Ok, look, so I'm basically concerned Nintendo is going to implement Fear-Of-Missing-Out, Mobile-esque features in the game and I worry that they're going to do different **** each season so I need to ask.

Has anyone time traveled to Easter 2021 and is it still there?

Yeah no that sucks ass. I don't want this to become a game-as-a-service.

I think you're building a mole hill out of an ant hill out of this... the game is a game. It's basically like Splatoon's Splatfests. Basically the same, just a little different each time. Once it comes to a close, they open it up to everyone via an update.

Weren't people literally kvetching earlier about how the Fishing Tourney has no incentive now because they min-maxed it this time round and the prizes will be the same next time?

There's no way to win. You're in the camp that FOMO is bad and having one-time only events is bad; others are in the camp that 'I've done it once I don't want to do it again'. Someone's going to be unhappy, but as it stands you've got 365 days before you're even going to find out if your camp won.

Why not just enjoy the game for the next 365 days and then decide if it's make or break?

I think there was a discussion about this yesterday so I'm just going to quote what I said on the issue:
I think it’s a valid concern but I’m guessing that Bunny Day 2021 is going to be different and I sure hope it is. I don’t want to experience another eggpocalypse 2 weeks again because that kinda ruined the game for be tbh, but I do applaud those who did enjoy the event and made something creative out of it.

Seriously. All anybody (which... me included tbh) did during the Bunny Day festivities was complain about wanting it to be over and to never have to deal with the eggs again, but now that it is over, people are getting themselves all worked up about TTing and not being able to experience it again next year. There are going to be plenty of events between now and then.

Will it suck if the events don't return next year (or the year after, or the year after)? Yes, absolutely. AC isn't a game that has ever had an 'end' (yes they technically have ends in their calendars, but those are usually stupidly long after the game's release) and so I'd feel angry and a little ripped off if I paid for a game that only had a year's worth of events.

But

Am I going to spend the next 12 months worrying about Bunny Day 2021 instead of finally enjoying fishing, woodcutting, rock hitting, fossil excavating, and balloon farming without being buried in eggs for the first time in two weeks? Of course not.

I mean y'all can support the Pocket Campification of the series if you want lol

Like I worry there's going to be permanently missable content. What happens if they don't re-add the DIYs from this Easter? I don't like that.

It's not even close to pocket camp. Pocket camp encourages playing every 3 hours to complete events. Pocket camp encourages paying real money to catch up. event lasted 12 days to give everyone time and everyone complained about THAT...

Nothing is permanently missable. If you TT back to bunny day week, the event and all diys are still obtainable.

This is just speculation, but my guess is that either the event will be exactly the same every year with the same prizes, or they'll use the overwatch model of adding new stuff and reactivating the old.

Oh, you can go back?

Great good enough for me then honestly.

Look all I care about *really* is that things aren't permanently missable and that I can get them in some manner.

I prefer things being different each year ngl.

I got all the furniture and such this year. Next year if nothing changes I won't excited about the event at all. If they change it up or make another series of furniture for the year of 2021 itll give me more incentive to play.

I got a whole year to wait though so I'm not overly worried.

As of right now you can go back to the 2020 bunny day event but that may change with the next patch. They may take it out.

Yep. As of right now anyway, you can go back.

Agreed. If it's the same next year, I'll ignore it. I hope it changes!

The materials will likely be the same, so players who have been around from the start can craft previous recipes for players with the new year's eggs. I'll certainly be happy to craft old recipes for new players, if provided the materials.

As much as I hope it changes, I don't even know what else they'd even do for the sets. We already got pretty much everything needed in a room + some outdoor stuff from the bunny day set so... what else could they really add? A different set with the same theme? new pieces to go with the previous sets? I know it's completely speculation what they would do if they even plan on doing it in the first place, but it kinda makes me curious :O I personally don't mind whether sets change each year or not because I see both arguments. Really the only thing that concerns me is as others said: Missing out on stuff. It's good that you can still go back in time access it, but it's still a massive chore to do that or to trade a ton with other players and just seems like a lot more trouble than it's worth. but you can't exactly keep adding to the same pool of items or else you'll have new players trying to collect 50+ bunny day items from starting over 2 years later. It just seems a bit hard to manage

best case scenario they release a free promotion type thing like with the nook inc silk rug or the pocket camp items where you can get the older items through the catalog or something. even if they completely change the rewards and such and don't offer previous rewards, i'm sure there are enough people who have dupes of the recipes or can make the furniture for others (i'm more than willing to give away bunny day dupes or make people furniture for free). no matter what, someone's likely to be disappointed with the decision the devs make. i'm sure they'll at least add a few new items next year since this is a game that's really meant to be played long term, but we'll really just have to wait until next year. best thing to do is wait until next year and if the devs make a decision you don't agree with you can try to make your voice heard.
