Earthquake in Haiti

I heard about this yesterday and even saw it on the news.

I feel sorry for the people over there ...
I wish I could do something to help ... :gyroidconfused:

So sad....I hope that they can recover from this....

Well aside from praying there is something you can do... most likely there will be groups of people going to help rebuild you could always volunteer for a week or something, or send money to people who are and groups to buy supplies...
American Airlines is taking volunteers down there for free.

I heard about some old guy on the news rambling about it but didn't pay attention. I'm too busy caring about myself. I have a life, too, ya' know.
That is so incredibly selfish I'm actually shocked :O

Anyway, this is horrific. These people are already way under-privileged, yet they get this!? It's this kind of thing that strengthens my atheism, because if there was a God out there, he would surely have stopped this. If I was old enough, I would go out there to help them, but really, 500,000 must be like England losing 2-3million :X

Poverty + big earthquake = a pretty horrible situation.

Volcanic places like Haita are generally full of mountainous areas. Civilizations then build on the few flats areas. This means that the slums around the cities are generally built on hills, and it doesn't take much thinking to realise a house made of poor materials on a steep mountain during an earthquake is not a good place to be.

I feel terribly sorry for the people in Haita.

I REALLY wanna help Haiti, the only thing I can do is send money, it's just that my mom won't let me. (She wants to too but I'm not sure why we can't). And I can't believe it would happen to the poorest town (in the Western Hempisphere, in other words, close to Cuba)! My teacher told me alot of what happened, we even watched a vide, and now we have to make a long, summary about it. Anyways, my teacher said that when the buildings crashed, many were just CRUSHED. They found alot trapped in the callapsed buildings. I'm gonna be praying for them, for a little wealth, and aid :) .

And to the people who were LOL'ing (Zexion), I don't think you would like it if it happened to you, nor do I think you would care what I'm saying. But just to warn you, if you do something mean or cruel, it comes back later and crashes into you. Watch out.

Think about it this way:

If my house built out of cardboard and soda cans collapsed, would the government be sending me billions of dollars?

Yes, it is a tragedy. The country was already in a poverty crisis, and we never helped them before. So why help now?

What ever happened to sympathy cards? It's a tragedy, but billion of dollars in aid? Billions of dollars that the United States needs? I have plenty of cardboard boxes I could mail.

I live just an island away from them.. And yeah its pretty horrible, those could have been us puertoricans. We here in Puerto Rico are gathering everything we can to help them, since they are our neighbors, im sure the whole World is doing the same. I actually volunteered to go help out there, but I don't think i can go since college starts soon and i haven't received any call yet.

Still, Haiti is one of the poorest countries in America, and it has always needed help.. The World only remembered about them when an Earthquake killed so many people there.. Shame on everyone..

This really is a catastrophe, and I feel for the people. But like I said, we can't be aiding them with the billions of dollars that we need.

Wow ...

My school is raising money for something called "Relief for Haiti" by doing a hat day and other stuff. So I hope we can raise enough to help them. ):

Thats sad. A lot of schools are raising stuff for the people in Haiti, Even at my dentist they're raising. I hope we can all help, so they can get what they need.

It is there fault that they are living on top of a plate. Now I do feel sorry for them though for suffering but we can't help everyone because we still the billions and billions of dollars to help the economy and other crisis. But if you haven't noticed this is there second most damage earthquake since 200 years. Trust me, there is going to be a big aftershock too.

First, how is it their fault? They choose to be born where they were? If you havent noticed, they live in poverty and cant just get up and leave their family. And second, fix your grammar. >.>

One ignorant man said that it was there fault, because about 200 the people of Haiti "so called agreed to a pat with the devil".

Its very selfish how some people laugh, and think its funny. Just imagine if it were you in this sad situation.

I just saw on the newspaper that a swedish man was dug out of all the garbage.
