i didnt play animal crossing for i think, 2 days just so i can catch up w school
and now

genji is gone

i want to SCREAM

I'm really sorry, I know how it feels. I've lost Ankha, Merengue, and Fauna before. It's awful. I hope you can get Genji back soon.

I was just reading on another thread that if you talk someone out of moving, and quit then save the same day, you can go however long with losing a villager. Another villager can't decide to move until the game is loaded again, but it would be in the earlier phase where they would ping you, if anyone is wanting to move at all. Many have confirmed it works :)

:D I just added to it. Does it make sense now?
oh yeah that makes sense
but i mean, genji is gone
already
he's gone
but thanks for tellin me about the trick!

Ah that sucks, sorry! Good luck if you decide to cycle 16 for him, but even if you don't, eventually he'll end up in your Main Street and then it'll be like he's part of your town again :)

Sorry about genji, I hope the trick helps you to retain other dreamies so it doesn't happen again :)

I had this happen to me in my 2nd town. THREE TIMES! The first time of when I didn't play for a long time Melba moved. Then the second time was when Kid Cat moved away. Then on the next one, Barold Moved away. I had to reset my towns due to that. I just didn't want to do the 16-Villager thing.

sorry about genji!
ugh yeah i know the feeling lmao, i didn't play in a town for 1 single day and skye was in boxes the next day idek how ugh i'm still mad about it! and yesterday i tted 5 days, the day after someone moved out thinking i'd be lucky and keep everyone, and cheri moves out OAisjfoasja

//points to Chrissy//
Lost her around March, because I was kept a bit busy with school work and I was a bit bored with Animal Crossing ;-;
Still haven't got her back yet...

I know how that feels, except, I played everyday still, and one day when I started, Rosie was in boxes without telling me she was moving, and I have talked to her and she never mentioned it

I've been keeping track of who pings to move in my towns for the past month so I can figure out whether random move outs are programmed into the game or if it has to do with other factors like missed pings or skipping days playing.Here's what I've found out:
-Non-moving villagers won't always tell you when another villager is moving on the first day the moving villager pings.
-Generally,the first ping you get when you start up your town is from the villager that is moving but that's not always the case.Sometimes it's the second or even the third ping and sometimes you have to quit and save a couple of times to get the mover to ping.
-Villagers ping to move an average of every three days but sometimes it's even less than that(and sometimes more).I had villagers ping to move in one town on consecutive days.
-I think it's safe to skip playing your town a day here and there if you had a villager ping to move the day before.You have at least one "safe" day before another villager pings except in a rare case when another villager pings to move the very next day(see above).But I don't think I would skip playing for more than one day at a time to be on the safe side.
-If you have to TT,do it one day at a time.That's what I do in my non-cycling towns and I've never lost a villager.
-Special days like the Bug Off and the Fishing Tourney make it more difficult to keep track of whether a villager is moving or not.I talk to all the villagers that are in their houses to see of they'll mention if someone is moving.
-Every villager that has wanted to move in my towns this past month(there's been quite a few) has pinged.Like I've stated above,sometimes I've had to quit and save a few times to get them to ping.

Overall,I think the main reasons villagers leave without notice is due to a combination of missed pings,skipping days playing and non-moving villagers not mentioning when someone is moving.I don't think random move outs are programmed into the game but I'm going to keep tracking move outs for another month before I'm positive that's the case.

That was Phil! I was so mad!
He left me a picture, like that was supposed to fill the hole in my heart!
Just looking isn't enough, dang it!

That happened to me 4 times and I hate it.
Shep twice, Sprinkle, and Francine...all of them...just because they won't ping me for moving.
