Does the grass grow greener on the other side?

So I have finally laid out some paths, rearranged some hybrid flowers, and achieved perfect town status thanks to some amazing friends...but here lately I noticed something quite irksome. I have a desert in my town! Like absolutely HUGE dirt spots that just looks horrid! How I got the perfect town status baffles me since I have no lush green lawn in my town. Blegh. How long will it be before it comes back, IF EVER?!?!?!? I am hoping by laying down paths that it might make a difference. Is this permanent? Will burying fertilizer improve it faster? Help!!!

Avoid walking over those areas if you can help it. My brother setup the beautiful town ordinance and just left flowers alone in dirt patches, since then a majority has green grass covering it up once more.

Believe it or not, TTing makes grass grow back at an alarming rate. I used to have major dirt patches all over, but I planted A LOT of trees and TT'ed (day by day, mainly checking stores, chatting w/ villagers, no major running/walking all over the place...) by a few months, and my grass has never been greener

edit: Oh yeah, and Beautiful Town helps so much! Good Luck~

Grass wear is more common the longer you play your game. For example, if you play 7+ hours each day, you'll have a desert after a while.

If you're willing to TT, you could go a week forward and then go back. Just make sure you have 8 villagers when you do it, because 9 or more could result in losing someone. But anyways, when you TT, the grass should regrow.

If you go to the island, do random tours that don't require picking stuff up and stuff your inventory with flowers. Put them in the box, and then repeat. As soon as the box is full, go home, plant the flowers all over the dirt, and then go back to the island and get more until your entire town is covered in flowers.

Oh, and water the flowers, if you can. It'll be a lot of work, but it's better than having a desert, right?

I drowned my town in flowers and it didn't help at all. The only thing I found that helps is literally not walking on that grass at all, which is easier said that done if your entire town is already a desert (like mine) and there's no other patches of grass to walk on (which, hey, while you're fixing up the existing dirt patches, are slowly turning to dirt themselves!). Oh, and time traveling is supposed to help if you don't mind that. I think some people find a day that is raining and just keep time traveling back and forth on that day.

Fertilizer doesn't help grass grow back. Fertilizer only (supposedly) helps hybrids to breed, Perfect Fruit to grow, and whatnot. I got Perfect Town in the same position you are since grass doesn't really affect that at all (although I don't understand why my villagers say its the best town ever, admittedly). Paths will only make a "difference" if you only walk on them. That being said, don't ever pick up your patterns! All grass underneath paths will still deteriorate! Which is just great!

Actually, grass wear paths can look really pretty. I want some, but I'm dreading the tedious work of planning out where to put all of it, and having to remodel every time a villager moves into a different location than the last one.

Actually, yeah, that's a fair point. Grass wear paths look pretty sweet, I agree. It's only kind of viable when you have a mostly green town, though. I'd also worry about the wear "spreading" out into a large patch, which is basically what happened to my grass. I started out making some natural paths and as I kept walking over them, they became ridiculously large even though I tried to only walk on the already-worn bits. :/ Now I have patches of grass in a wide-open space of dirt instead of patches of dirt in a wide-open space of grass.

It baffles me that I've seen people put weeks of work into creating worn paths and I seem to get that same amount of wear within days even though I don't run. Haha.

A dirt spot in my town hasn't grown back for a whole month now and it's covered in flowers. I'm getting beautiful town as soon as the weekend events are over. Too many flowers to water and almost all the houses have dirt front lawns.
