Does hiding fossils behind buildings still work?

I found my last fossil yesterday and when that happened in new leaf I would dig up all the fossils the next day and hide them behind a building so they wouldn't pop up again. And they'd stay put. Does that still work in new horizons? Or do they not stay anymore? I get I can sell them for a good bit, but I don't personally want to.

Yup! That’s what I did! I dug up the five fossils and dug them behind a small area that you can’t see and I haven’t had any other fossils spawn in since the five I had were not assessed.

Or was it six? I don’t remember... But the ones you’ve hidden will stay put :3

I thought it was four? I find 4 everyday.

However, this seems to be a pretty neat trick. I'm not much of a fan finding fossils everyday. I hate it when I can't find the fourth. I may just start doing this tomorrow.

Omgosh thank you!!! This trick is going to save me tons of time! I have a natural side of my island that I like to go out to and explore but sometimes the fossils pop up on my paths. So I'll go bury these 6to be safe!
on the other side and make them look like part of the landscape forever~

It is six, because two spawn if you leave your daily four. And it absolutely works. My six are behind a cliff and no more spawn.

Yes this works, I actually buried mine on the beach and no more have popped up anywhere on my island

Oh my goodness, thank you for confirming this works! Time to go dig up my super annoying fossil spawns and place them behind the museum

Can confirm, buried 6 fossils behind a cliff all the way in the back of my map, and none showed up today. Such a timesaver this'll be; cut my morning routine down by 5-10 minutes.
