See, Most of my favorite's are low tier, with only 1 tier one Villager I really Like, and people on other sites call my town trash because I have low-tier Villagers, This got me really self-conscious. Does using my favs rather than top tiers make my town objectively worse than others? :(

Absolutely not. Don't listen to the people telling you that. Your town is yours, you can do whatever you want with it and only you can judge it. If you like your villagers, keep them! It absolutely doesn't matter. You can have whichever villagers you want, it doesn't matter at all if they're not "popular".

noooo! not at all! your town is YOUR town, so no one else's opinion should matter, especially about your villager. the tiers are only supposed to be used to price villagers for those who are selling, not to determine which ones are better than others. if you're happy with who's in your town, that's all that matters c:

Thanks, make me feel a bit better about my Town, considering nearly 3 years of work have went into it

Like others have said, don't listen to them. Do whatever you please because it's your town and in ACNL there are no rules on what the perfect town is suppose to look like. The perfect town is the town you own, or the town your trying to achieve. It's special and has a meaning to you and you shouldn't let people take that away from you just because everyone always looks for the villagers with the cutest style.

Maybe the villagers that are ugly have a brilliant personality. Thats why I love villagers like Katt or Tabby, because even if people aren't fond of them they have a meaning to me that no one can take away.

No, having 'popular' villagers won't make a town better or worse.
I rather have favorites, than a town full of overused villagers.

Also, don't listen to those who called your town trash.

no its not every town its special in their own way <3 dont listen to them
create your town with your own vision for you town

yes, the entire game is a show-off contest and nothing else

Nintendo has always made the series in this way

What, how? I always thought the game was relaxing and super fun. I haven't played with anyone online until a couple months ago and I still loved every game of the series.

Don't care at all. I like a lot of unpopular villagers too. I think too many people are influenced by popularity and that alone is why those villagers are so popular.

I'm pretty much just going to say what everyone has already said but no, popularity of villagers doesn't matter. It's your town, get the villagers you want, regardless of what tier they're in. Someone calling your town "trash" because your villagers aren't "popular" is absurd, it's your town, do what makes you happy with it and don't listen to people who call it trash. Others rude opinions don't matter, specially if you never asked for opinions.

If so, isn't it players that have made it that way and not Nintendo?

In my town, it's a mix. But I agree with you, having popular villagers doesn't make your town better.

The only "popular" ones I have are Fang, Flurry, Chrissy and Francine.

I know Fang is REALLY popular, but I had him right when I started my town. I really loved his design so I decided to keep him (I didn't even know he was popular).

For Flurry, she's simply my favorite villager ever. I had her when I created my first town when the game was released. Decided to have her again in this town, of course.

For Chrissy and Francine, I had Chrissy when I started my first town ever (back in 2013), and in this town I have right now, I had Francine from the start. So I decided to have them both.

Except for these 4 "popular ones", my villagers are mainly tier 5 or 4. Biff, Al, Hamlet, Frita... None of them are really popular. I cringe when I read people's signatures, all of them have Marshal. I don't even think he looks good. xD In other words, just have in your town the villagers you like the most. Let's take two scenarios. You have a town full of tier 1 villagers? People will say "You have way too much tier 1, your town feels artificial, it's terrible!". You have a town with no tier 1? People will say "Your town is terrible! Your villagers are so ugly!".

No matter what, people will judge you. So just go with what YOU love and don't listen to them. ;)

Not at all! Just because you prefer low-tier villagers doesn't mean that your town is worse than towns with popular villagers. What matters more is that you love these villagers. I can really relate to what you're going through, though! I used to be unhappy with my dreamies because many of them are low-tier, but nowadays I'm instead focusing on loving them and making them happy.

They never even saw or been in my town, they said it was trash based on the Villagers LOL

NO, NOT AT ALL. Tier says nothing but popularity, which means the lower tier your villagers are, the less popular. You're actually unique for having different villagers than others, and you don't stupidly pick popular villagers to be cool. Please don't let yourself be influenced by other people like that, the tier system is stupid enough the way it is already.

See, Bob is my fav ever, Because I see a lot of me in him. People get on my case that Roald is a fat Penguin who claims to be strong, but I've always found that adorable.

Popular villagers don't make your town better or worse. Personally, when I see towns full of tier ones and nothing else, I get pretty bored from the lack of variety. Keep your town unique, and keep the villagers you love. I mean, if you have a bunch of villagers that everyone likes but you don't, it wouldn't be fair to you. I'm sure your town is a nice town, and whatever villagers you have are special. And anyone who says they're trash must be saying that 'cause they're jealous. (lol) ;)

Honestly, I can't understand people, who calls other people towns "trash", just because they don't have so popular villagers. I mean: How boring would it be, when everyone has only tier 1 villagers in their towns? Don't listen to people who say something rude to your town, take the villagers your like, it's your game/town and your decision and that is what counts.

Of course not. There are tons of amazing towns with unpopular villagers and people still love them.

Literally all villagers of the same personality are the exact same. It's all preference on what looks better. That's why it annoys me when people are like "Diana is so sweet and great" but then are like "Elise is stupid and rude ugh" for example. Like they are exactly the same. Same dialogue.

I would understand if some villagers were rarer than others, but each villager has the same exact rate of appearing as the other so whatever kind of villagers you have does not matter.
