I've been playing AC since I was a child, the entire reason I even got a DSi in the first place was just so I could play Wild World. I wasn't very good at it, but then I discovered New Leaf years later and still cherish it to this day.
Honestly, with the release of New Horizons coming soon, I've realized that since I will not be paying for an Nintendo account, I will not be able to play it with others.
Online play is one of the biggest reasons I still play Animal Crossing, and without that, on the Switch I may just end up visiting my village only to complete my chores every day after playing it for three-to-six months. That and, I can see why no one would want to go out and buy a $300 Switch just to find out that online play is paywalled.
And while I've noticed that sadly, this forum is still nowhere near as populated as it had once been, I must ask--
does anyone still play New Leaf?
I'm feeling quite nostalgic, so nostalgic that I've booted up my DS and restarted my failed town.
So if anyone does still play New Leaf and would be willing to play with me while the DS family still has free, online features, I would be ever so grateful. Even if play is only once or twice a week, or a month-- I would be happy.
I have been playing since I purchased my first game cartridge in August 2013. It is the town Applewin. It is listed first in my signature.
I stopped online playing a few years ago.
I now play “Animal Crossing: New Leaf” for creative reasons and for experiencing villagers who I did not have in previously established towns.
My signature has three towns established for more than five years: Applewin, ACNLpics (a museum-themed town in which all four humans house the game’s villagers and special characters), and Foster. In 2019, I added to my signature five more towns: Keystone, Koopie, Beauty, Orange, and the Christmas-themed Toy Day.
I don’t anticipate the Nintendo Switch release of “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” will bring an end to my playing “Animal Crossing: New Leaf.” It is because of the pleasure I experience with creating and developing towns. But, at some point, it will end. (I just don’t know, for fact, when.)
New Leaf is played daily in multiple towns and we don't see that changing. We don't play online so that facet is of no concern. We will definitely play NH but there is not enough real information yet available to know to what extent so, it's a wait 'n see...For now, ACNL is in good health and expected to remain so.
I still play, but not much in my main town. I have a second town that I restart every now and again. I’ve been playing a lot lately in anticipation of the new game
But I probably won’t play it anymore once I get New Horizons. A lot of people still will, it just won’t be the most popular AC game anymore
I still play New Leaf, though only periodically. I would most likely currently be playing it as of late, but I'm trying to figure out names for player characters I want to add to my towns and am terrible at decisions. I tend to binge on the game when I play it, then stop playing for an indeterminate amount of time (days, weeks, months, never really know) while focusing on other things, then pick it back up and repeat the process. That's kind of how I engage with hobbies or media, I hyperfocus for a time and then turn my attention elsewhere. I definitely still enjoy it and don't intend to stop playing even when New Horizons releases. They'll each have different things to offer to provide their own sorts of enjoyment.
hi!
i currently still play new leaf, especially since i have a new town. i used to restart a ton, but i am trying to refrain from that now <3
i haven't done themes in any of my previous towns, but this town (Vonbelle) does have a theme for a change. it's really just a purple, blue, (and maybe pink) colored town! i might add some different colors in the future, but that's highly unlikely.
all of my villagers are going to have purple or blue exteriors for their houses, to fit the aesthetic. i already have my list of villagers actually!
i feel like a lot of people will still play new leaf even after new horizons releases. i mean, come on; look at wild world and all the previous games! some people still play them- and new leaf is a big improvement from those releases.
i know i will probably keep playing new leaf... but we'll see haha
can't wait for new horizons to release, i'm definitely getting it and the special edition switch dedicated to new horizons!
I'm still playing it for now, I don't own a Switch right now (but I've pre-ordered the new game).
But if I do get a hold of one, I will most likely drop this game like I did with the others..but I do check on them sometimes.
I still play New Leaf daily. I log into my main town to check in on villagers and keep up with the daily maintenance. Plus, I'm still working on a few badges.
I also play in my second town, which is still in the planning and building phase. I have a long way to go on that town and don't plan to stop until I finish it.
I'll probably be playing New Leaf for a while because I don't own a Switch and I'm still not sure if I'm going to get one. I don't do online play, though. I'm purely a solo player.
I even had a New Years Resolution to play Animal Crossing every day that I could... but to be fair, not really anymore. Its not an issue with the game entirely, even though I've played it since it came out. Losing my original town was a punch to the gut- and then I didn't realize how hectic it would feel trying to manage two towns, let alone try and theme one from the ground up (no time traveling, by the way).
At this rate, I think I'm just gonna wait for New Horizons and maybe go back to New Leaf now and again to check up, and maybe continue my themed town, or try and fill up the encyclopedias. Honestly, I'm just not patient.
Started my main town on June 14, 2013 and haven't missed a day. Main Town is off limit to online friends. Visitors from my other towns dropped by for host/visitor badges and selling premium items.
Player 2 has the visitor badge and Player 3 has her streetpass badge.
I have other towns and 2 need villagers placements. One needs perfect town and others needs PWP.
I've recently started playing again bc I decided since we have an old 3ds I'd finally attempt a hacked town, so I went ahead and started making a v cute winter town! Always wanted to but never did so I thought I'd do it before NH. On a side note, if you do decide you want to play NH online, I have space on our family Nintendo Online account! I can add you to it! Just PM me!
I still do! I've had some breaks of a few months in recent years when work got too hectic, but I've always come back to it. I'm basically just finalising my town now (it took ages...!) and I want to upload a dream address at last when it's done (and after the snow melts). I will probably still play it a bit after New Horizons comes out, but I expect I'll mostly swap completely over to the new game--the way I only check Wild World a few times a year now.
I've not been playing enough! I really want to finish my town before ACNH comes out, so I should try and pick it up again to fill up the last free spots in my town.. almost there!
i do, but currently im more focused on story of seasons: trio of towns which has fully caught my attention. so im only checking in once a week currently.
Definitely! It's still my favorite video game of all time so I play it basically every day. Sometimes I don't play for a few weeks but in general I still play it after more than 5 years actively. I love this game so much!
