Does anyone still play New Leaf?

I am still playing New leaf yes!
I am not entirely sure if I do want to buy New Horizons and a switch yet tbh... The responses and reviews are fairly mixed and I guess I am waiting when there will be more content and how things will shape as months go by.
I'm currently trying to save up for it and since I don't have a stable income (I'm a student) I think my saving up journey will probably be long enough to see and decide when I have the money

i still play new leaf! new leaf has a special place in my heart and i cannot just abandon my new village sjhdflkfsjf i don't like to start things i won't finish so my village is gonna be alive for quite a while! i do have new horizons but there's just something special about new leaf, yk?

yess! i don't think i'll be buying nh in years lol. i pretty much know everything in new leaf like the insides of my pockets but i still get so addicted to it over and over again D:

Actually I just started two days ago. All the switch consoles are sold out in my country and the orders are all backed up till September. So in the mean time, I'm playing new leaf to get a taste of the animal crossing experience!

I still play New Leaf even though I also have New Horizons. New Leaf had Club Tortimer, gold tools that didn’t break, as well as still existing characters who weren’t booted out (Harriet, Tortimer, Dr. Shrunk, etc.) I get that the new game has new characters and relatives to continue their jobs, but I still miss some of the old characters. New Horizons has better graphics, buildings that can be moved, and a wider selection of bugs & fish to catch. However, as Nintendo makes new games, the villager dialogue becomes duller and more repetitive than New Leaf imo. Today, I just ordered new hairstyles and colors using my Nook Miles and I couldn’t find certain hair colors or hairstyles that were present in New Leaf. Heck, my hairstyle and hair color from New Leaf was not even present in the new game at all. Maybe I’m just being nitpicky, but because New Horizons keeps updating it’s content, we just have to wait and see. Until then, I’ll keep playing New Leaf and trading on here. ^_^

I've been playing AC since I was a child, the entire reason I even got a DSi in the first place was just so I could play Wild World. I wasn't very good at it, but then I discovered New Leaf years later and still cherish it to this day.
Honestly, with the release of New Horizons coming soon, I've realized that since I will not be paying for an Nintendo account, I will not be able to play it with others.

Online play is one of the biggest reasons I still play Animal Crossing, and without that, on the Switch I may just end up visiting my village only to complete my chores every day after playing it for three-to-six months. That and, I can see why no one would want to go out and buy a $300 Switch just to find out that online play is paywalled.

And while I've noticed that sadly, this forum is still nowhere near as populated as it had once been, I must ask--
does anyone still play New Leaf?

I'm feeling quite nostalgic, so nostalgic that I've booted up my DS and restarted my failed town.

So if anyone does still play New Leaf and would be willing to play with me while the DS family still has free, online features, I would be ever so grateful. Even if play is only once or twice a week, or a month-- I would be happy.

Be sure to leave your friend code below.

I do! My sister bought me the game this year because I can’t get a switch, but she had her old DS! So I’ve been playing ACNL! My friend code is 1006-3454-7266

Oh my friend code is 5258-0513-8108

I play both New Leaf and New Horizons daily and love them both for different reasons. Honestly can't recommend one over the other

Some pros for NL include:
-Charm factor that NH just can't replicate
-Villagers have more dialogue options and overall personality than in NH
-Villagers invite you over to their houses and vice-versa (literally NO reason to omit this simple feature from NH. Lame)
-Club LOL (Please bring DJ K.K back Nintendo!!)
-Past villagers that moved out your town visit you on main street and can party with them at Club LOL
-Kapp'n > Orville & Wilbur
-Roost Café
-Wolf Link & Inkwell!!!!
-Golden Tools don't break
-Items from Nintendo Exclusives (love my Majora's Mask <3)

Some pros for NH include:
-Beautiful graphics & easily the best looking game in the series
-Endless customization for your island with the advent of the terraforming feature
-First time in the series that you can change your skin tone (A big one for me and many other poc...shouldn't need to put on a mask to represent yourself in a video game. Thank you for finally getting with the program Japan)
-VILLAGERS NEED TO ASK PERMISSION BEFORE MOVING AWAY (once my Alice moved away in NL after not playing for a week due to real life priorities, I was completely done with my town and was forced to start fresh. Game-breaking feature for me, glad they took that trash out of NH)

I'm probably forgetting a bunch of stuff but yeah, I love them both :]

i don't play it that much anymore but i got like billions of bells saved up on it so i go on my game when my sister needs help with anything
(might aswell give them away if i'm not using them ya know)

i did go on my game the other day to help someone out and it was nice to see all my villagers like wolf link, chai, carmen
but not maple because she left! never forget...

plus i also like to go on it to listen to kick's shop theme and the hourly music, because it's an actual rave ☆

I was burned out from playing too much so I took a break from it for a while, then my 3ds broke so I had to buy a new one and restart my town. I'm enjoying it a lot more than before - I think I just needed to leave for a while and come back later :]

Of course! It's better than New horizons but I still play both

I don't play anymore, stopped playing years ago tbh, picked it up again some months ago to play with a friend but I haven't touched it again since

I'm still very attached to my town, which was never finished, but I still love it

I haven't played new leaf in months, only cause I'm pretty sure some of my villagers moved out and I'm too scared to find out who :(

I try to play New Leaf every day. I've been missing out on a few days lately since I'm really busy but usually I play every day.

Unfortunately I dont play much anymore. I love New Horizons and since its the newer game thats the one I want to play. I stopped playing New Leaf the day that NH came out and have checked in maybe twice but never for more than 10 minutes. I think the graphics makes it hard to go back too even though they're still good but compared to NH its pretty hard. I miss my villagers sometimes but I have them all as amiibo cards and have been tempted to scan them all in to have the same villagers. I played NL for like 2 years straight and completed basically everything and almost all the badges etc so theres not really a lot that I can do. If I do go back it'll be in a few years time once we've seen everything NH offers through updates etc.

I'm thinking of playing again, but I do wish I could play on the big screen. I may think of ...doing things to my 3DS that will make that happen so I can enjoy NL more. Even if it's 240p on my TV lol
