Does anyone not put hours into searching for villagers?

I already spent nearly 16 hours using 392 Nook Miles tickets. I still didn't get Felicity or Judy. The experience is horrid and a waste of time in my opinion.

If you are an adventurous player who is looking to invite anyone, you will love it.

Wow you people continue to amaze me with your dedication to getting certain villagers

I like going island hoping for villagers, I have been lucky and the most nmts I have used is 17. I have some villagers in mind and never look for just one.

If I have someone I’m set on I look to adopt from someone else or amiibo them in. Otherwise, I only island hop until I find someone me or my friends want! I’ve never used more than 15 NMT on a hunt.

Last trip only took me 15 tickets to get sherb, but the other times I used up all the tickets in my inventory and all of my nook mile tickets. Except for villager number two and I think five and one of my last spots, I sometimes ended my island hopping with no one picked and went with random move in. I run through the tickets fast, so, I don’t think I spent hours looking for any except maybe Raymond. I plan on continuing to use tickets to look for the rest of my villagers that I want even though I have their amiibo cards and if I don’t find them within a certain amount of tickets, maybe invite someone I normally wouldn’t give a chance to get their picture and just because I think it’s fun to meet new villagers.

I've only spent hours searching for one specific villager (Chester) once, the rest of my 9 villagers were either unplanned or I got lucky, or was a planned adoption from someone else!

I mostly take whatever I get for my "first" AC game, so villager hunting isn't a huge priority. My first 8 villagers are still here with me and I probably wont be replacing them anymore. My very last villager Cyd I put in 120ish tickets worth of island hopping and during that search I didn't see a single elephant. It really annoyed me and put me off island hopping altogether. Thankfully I was able to adopt him from a giveaway! If I were to have a second island I'd probably try theming it and basing it around villager house exteriors rather than their appearance. So in that game I would care more about searching for specific villagers to suit the theme.

I don't. As soon as I find one that looks cool, I take them. It's how I got Angus, Tasha, Frobert, and Lucky.

Yea, I don't have the time or patience for intense villager hunting lol. I guess it helps that I don't really have that many villagers I want on my island forever (only Judy and Rudy, who I both adopted from other people), so I usually just settle after like 15 islands.

So far I've found Audie, Sherb, Dom, Marina, Octavian, Fauna, etc. All within ~15 tickets.

If I didn't find anyone I liked after those I'd probably just try adopting from someone on discord or here haha

I do have amiibos but I like the randomness of the islands/campers!

I don’t spend hours looking for a villager, but obtaining them if that makes sense. I mostly go on the internet and buy a villager off of someone, the only time I went on a NM trip is when I was searching for Raymond, Judy, or Audie and I settled with Coco (I later on got Audie through a giveaway). I would rather spend currency than spending hours or even days trying to search for a villager that won’t even 100% spawn once you wasted all of your NMT

Unfortunately, that "amazing" part didn't last long. I already given up with island hopping. :D

Honestly, you're better off looking for a player who can trade you that villager.

I don't island hop, I did it a bit during the first week of release then I started trading for the villagers I wanted, I hate the thought of spending NMTs to see random villagers I won't like, and I wouldn't do it now especially since I have everyone :'p

Just a huge time sink I don't enjoy!

I don't, but only because I haven't had to. The most time and NMT I had to spend to get a villager I liked was maybe 30 minutes and 16 NMT. All my other dreamies I found with 2-3 tickets and maybe 5 minutes.

For the rest of the villagers I want, I'll probably just trade for them. Way less time and NMT required!

Still, finding my favorite villagers is really important to me. So if there is no other way to get them (for example, Shari, who basically is never up for trade since she's unpopular), I guess I'm willing to spend hours looking if absolutely necessary.

I haven't really put a ton of time in to mystery island hopping, in hopes of finding a certain villager. Mainly because I have a decent amount of amiibo cards already.

But I kinda like the random aspect of it, I've started saving up Nook Miles so that when I do decide to let a villager go, I can spend some time island hopping and grab whatever random cool villager I come across :)

I really don't understand how people can do that 600+ times in a row, though... dreamies are great but not THAT great

I'm never hunting for specific villagers. Whenever I have a plot open, I just go island hopping, see who I can find and take whoever seems good enough. While I was quite lucky here and there, I've never spent 20 or more tickets to this day, I think my longest "streak" was 17 tickets.

Two days ago I used 40 tickets while doing some hopping for my significant other, but that was already super tiring and frustrating. We were looking for a smug villager and only found Graham shortly before all tickets were used up. I wouldn't have the patience to do this several times. A friend of mine spent like 600 on the hunt for Judy. Still blows my mind. lol

Right now I'm trying to unlock all the villager posters, so it doesn't usually take that long to find someone I still need.

I sunk weeks into trying to find Tucker on the Nook Miles Islands. I eventually succeeded, only to discover that the Normal, Peppy, and Lazy villagers you get in the early game also have mediocre houses, similar to and only barely better than the basic homes of the starting Jock and Sisterly villagers. I was sort of disappointed since Tucker's actual house in this game is pretty neat looking, but I got over it fairly quickly. It's whatever, I'm still glad I got him. He was definitely the Lazy that fit the theme of my island the most.

For everyone else, after all that hassle, I decided to just go about getting the rest of my villagers by scanning in their amiibo. I didn't enjoy the gacha aspect of the Nook Miles Islands, didn't want to bother with the campsite method, and didn't really want to go searching around on the forums. Amiibo simply seemed the simplest and easiest.

Yes same! I don't have many tickets and I just "hunt" without expectations, I don't know all existing villagers so I always end up being surprised by a cute one after like 3 visits. Then I invite them to my island! :)

No way. I just look a few times and then give up. I end up just scanning my amiibos in cause screw that lol

IMO, island hopping is a waste of time. You’re better off just buying a villager from someone.

Honestly, I just buy them lol
But if they're at my campsite and it's a good villager, I will take them
