Does anyone not put hours into searching for villagers?

I feel like I don't care enough about the villager aspect of the game enough to sink so much time into hunting down specific villagers and I can't bring myself to spend so many NMT on one either. I know this is a wildly unpopular opinion but I'm curious if anyone else plays the villager part of the game more casually as well.

I got the game near the end of May, so I'm finding it too early to commit to having "permanent" villagers. I set myself a limit of 20-30 Mystery Island tours after a villager has moved out, though the maximum number of tours I've gone on so far was 17 (and I stopped after finding Bluebear), which takes me <1 hour (I also shake down trees for the wasp and furniture item). This is manageable for me to have found my next move-in before work.

On that note, it's been 3 weeks since someone has asked to move out, so I'm sitting at 200k Nook Miles. XD I couldn't imagine going on tours 100 times in one sitting though...

I guess I'm more of a casual player in that sense as most people I know that got the game but don't really play anymore didn't seem to have as much interest in the villager part of the game.

I always take super long to find the villagers I want, but I really hate the searching process. The endless menus, conversations, and cut scenes make it hard to visit many mystery islands without spending hours looking for villagers. I'm becoming less and less interested in doing this as I've collected most of the villagers I'm looking for by now.

I really haven't spent too much time with villager hunting. I was extremely lucky to find Lucky and Cherry quite early on in the game (the odds were very slim since there were only three that I knew I wanted out of all of the villagers) and Annalisa was offered to me for free just out of the blue on this board :giggle:
Tabby and Groucho were two villagers I hadn't known before stumbling upon them on an island and I just jnew that they were right for me when I met them.
After I had decided who the rest of my villagers were going to be, I found Olaf and Chops over the new neighbor network (luckily they aren't very sought after) and the rest I just bought amiibos of.

If I'm not committed to a themed village with a surplus of nmts give me whoever and I'll be happy.

To keep me from getting bored and occupied I create goals and thus... :)

No :p I feel like I'm the exact opposite - villagers are the main aspect of the game for me - decorating, fishing and bug catching are much lower on my priority list

Same. I can live in the most garbage island there is as long as I live with villagers I love. I will work my way around the ugliest most inconvenient map with villagers I love rather than sticking it out on a perfect map with villagers I hate. Same IRL, I guess. It’s not where you are or where you’re going, it’s who you’re with that matters to me.

i care about villager aspect of the game, i love meeting new characters! that said, the maximum tickets i've used per day is probably like 30. so i don't think i can do those villager hunting people do that takes more than 2 hours. i now have amiibos of my dreamies though.

I'm not committed to a theme or a dreamie list. I just set a ticket number and say I'll find someone within this many tickets.

same for me. i basically settled for my first map/island, and even though i got pear as native fruit again (same as new leaf), i was like whatever because i liked the starter villagers i got and i know that resetting would just be a risk to getting villagers i don't like. even with decorations, idc if a villager house exterior is out of place, i will make it work and i'd base the outdoor setting on a villagers vibe or hobby.

I may hit a few islands looking for a new villager but won’t do more than that and I’ve been fortunate to find several villagers that I like for free on this site. Mostly though I just try to keep at least one of each personality type even if it means getting a villager that I would not normally care for. My main interest in the game was first completing my furniture catalog and now decorating my houses and island.

I just buy their amiibos off etsy for like 2 dollars a piece. Saves me the headache.

I do like island hopping for whoever's interesting every once in a while, but I did put a lot of effort into getting my 8 permanent villagers.
I keep 2 spaces open so I can have some villagers move in and out.

The villagers aspect is what drawn me to Animal Crossing so I'd say that I care about it more than any other, even more than the aesthetic, so I try to dedicate time and effort in searching for those villagers that I really want to be in my island. I've been doing this since New Leaf, trying to learn how to do the plot and campsite resetting. There was a point I think I've gotten every popular villager to live in my town to see what the fuss is all about, then later move each of them out if I feel like I couldn't connect with them. I remember the days when I used to give my old "friends" here their dreamie of choice for free, when it was harder to acquire them and the amiibo cards weren't available yet. In New Horizon, I started resetting for my "starters" when I found out about the new villagers. I also got to experience everyone from Raymond to Megan between having them in my main and my cycling island. In the end, I'm extremely satisfied with my lineup right now, since most, if not all are the ones I really like.I could probably change a few in the future, who knows? If anything, that would be fun. Also, my daughter relies on me when it comes to filling her lineup and I'm sure she's pretty much set having Audie, Judy, Dom, Sherb and Raymond living on her island. We both have Audie and Dom right now. Oh, make that 3 Audie and I also have another Sherb on my cycling island, holding him for someone. She knows how to do campsite method as well.
