Does anyone hate this?

I'm happy with Toy Day. Not everyone celebrates Christmas, and I really appreciate Nintendo obliterating any kind of religion, as an atheist myself.

Yes, it's lovely how Nintendo considered everyone! This is one of the reasonsame as to why it has a huge crowd.

yeah same and I totally agree. I would have felt kinda weird celebrating "christmas" in acnl or any religious holiday... it's such a cute simple game and villager/furniture interaction is such a big part of it, so handing out "toys" or whatever totally makes sense.

now they just need to make more skin colour options and stop saying the accessory I want is meant for boys ._.

The origins of Halloween actually is religious.

Political Correctness got to Nintendo. In this day and age is "bad" to say things like "Merry Christmas." Instead society wants us to say things like"Happy Holidays". Social Justice Warriors (I've seen a few on this thread) want to take religion out of all holidays. That is that say... all Christian Holidays.

Toy Day inspirations: Santa, gift giving, decorated trees, and all that, have absolutely nothing to do with the religious part of Christmas. Most of these things come from pagan traditions that were incorporated along the way, and popularized through marketing. All in all, modern Christmas has little to do with religion.

It has nothing to do about political correctness, only basic knowledge about the holiday origins. Not everything needs to cater to a specific religion. Specially stuff that originally does not belong to said religion. Chill.

Actually, Halloween comes from the belief of demonic entities and evil forces (which is spiritualism, not religion), and the act of dressing up comes from the belief that you can scare these forces away, or at least blend in with them.

It's not bad to say "Merry Christmas." It's more considerate to say "Happy Holidays" because Christmas is not the only holiday celebrated this time of year. It's about openness, acceptance, and welcoming people of all faiths and backgrounds to be a part of society. You know, the Christian way. Why is it only my fellow Christians whine about this?

Christmas itself long ago transcended Christianity. It's a time of year for people to give and share with the people around them. To many, it has a religious angle. But not to all. I love the way Animal Crossing handles Christmas. Not everyone who plays this game is a Christian but surely they can all understand what it means to celebrate giving back. Toy Day is about listening to someone other than yourself, learning what would make them happy, keeping them in your thoughts, and giving without expecting anything in return. That's what Christmas is about no matter what you call it.

Happy Toy Day, kids.
