I've terraformed, but just a little nip and tuck here and there, mainly altering rivers and cliffs slightly so I can have bridges and inclines exactly where I want them. My island is otherwise just as I found it.
I changed one of my rivers and tweaked things here and there, but my island is mostly how I found it. People are amazingly creative, but that just isn't in my wheelhouse.
I have only done some terraforming at the entrance of my island and added a water fall top right. Other than that I have left my island layout and shape how it is. I feel like having too much or all of the island terraformed makes it appear smaller for some reason.
I’ve done a few minor adjustments. I would be more open to it if I wasn’t so horrible at it lol I’ve watched a few videos and still can’t even make a heart shaped pond. If others were allowed to terraform our island I would def pay for it!
I’ve done some small bits of terraforming but my island is about 95% as it was. I wanted a natural feel. I definitely don’t touch river banks because getting them to look right is so hard!
I don't terraform. The only times I've terraformed were to move around cliffs and waterfalls a little bit to accomodate the layout I wanted more fluidly, but besides that I haven't done any major terraforming on my island at all. I also wanted a more vanilla experience and I'm actually really happy with the way my town is laid out so I'm glad I made that decision
I've made a few minor temporary modifications here and there on my island to add spice to it, but I always stay true to the natural layout. There's something special about the default layout to me where I can work around the limits to make my creativity thrive.
I have done a little bit of terraforming but in general my island isn’t much different. I made one cliff a bit bigger and moved one section of my river a little further south to make a section of land between a cliff and the river less confining. I also slightly modified the shape of an exiting pond and added a new one on the cliff that I made a bit bigger as the original one had to be removed.
Otherwise my other cliff hasn’t been touched at all and my river is still the same general shape, only slightly more southern on the one side. I also haven’t added any additional water features like more ponds or waterfalls.
I quite like my island even if it seems a bit more simple then those that go crazy with the terraforming. It’s my style I suppose which distinguishes it from others.
I terraform my island - my layout is still relatively close to how my island looked when I started the game, but it's definitely improved a lot. I think if there are parts of your island you don't like, you should just change them - there's no point in disliking something that is fully within your abilities to change.
I wanted to keep my island’s original river. I like working around things, like past AC games. I’ve clipped little chunks of my river to place bridges/inclines, added a small lake, extended a pond Into a 2 tier waterfall, made a small creek through a valley, and built a small plateau on my peninsula to place my lighthouse. That’s pretty much been the extent of my waterscaping/landscaping.
I feel like I lucked out finding a island. It’s been so easy to decorate/landscape without completely bulldozing parts of my town.
I added a few new ponds and waterfalls , rerouted my rivers slightly and added a third plateau to the top of my island. I tried to keep it looking natural, but the bit where I did the most extensive terraforming is probably one of my favourite parts of the island.
Glad to see I'm not alone! I don't do much terraforming, my island's still recognisable as what it started as. The most I did was the Castle, which dug into the hill a bit, and the Large Waterfall, which was where a smaller one used to be.
I originally didn’t want to, because I wanted my island to look as natural as possible. However, I have caved and terraformed a little bit, usually just to make things symmetrical, or to make buildings fit nicely. I’ve also redone my ponds, though I’d like to make a more natural looking pond (my current ones are rectangular.)
I'm always amazed by people's terraforming skills and how pretty it makes their island! But personally I prefer having a mostly flat island, The hills tend to get in the way or obstruct vision and I'm trying to minimize the need of inclines because of how frequently I destroy+rebuild them. Probably the water placements were/are the most bothersome, water is probably the most I've terraformed on my island and it's so tempting to flatten it all haha.
