Does anyone else know this feeling?

Hi all,

So I have been looking for a ranch dresser for about a month, and I've had no luck. All the time travel, tree shaking, amiibo gifts, random presents and favours the game can offer hasn't been enough to get me this one piece I need! In fact, I haven't seen much of the ranch series at all!

It always happens to me - I end up getting pinned down looking for a common item forever! Does anyone else know this feeling or is it just me?

It makes sense. You can always find the items you aren't searching for but when you eyeball a specific piece, it's elusive suddenly.

Definitely fossils dude. I know that feeling! I'm trying to have Cyrus make me all the miniature fossil figurines...and I have all the fossils found, except for one last piece! It's super annoying lol...

Not only do I know the feeling, but it happened to me specifically with the ranch dresser as well!

This was before I was really using TBT, and I finally put out a desperate plea on Tumblr, offering to pay some exorbitant amount to even catalog one. A super nice person gave me one for free.

*Edited to add: I know that the game is supposed to be set up so that some common furniture and clothing items are actually rare in your town; it encourages Wi-Fi play and interaction. I'm pretty sure the same is true for campers as well. I've never had Pascal in my main town (which always gets Zipper), but he comes to Goblin.

Yes, to be honest. I wanted two pieces of orderable DLC but no one on this site seemed to be selling them. I think I spent around a month searching before buying them for extremely expensive prices, especially for orderable items.

Blue gym shorts.

I started looking at my catalog as I was close to getting the gold catalog badge. Then I realized that despite multiple towns - in over 2 years of playing I had never seen the blue gym shorts. Surely in the summer a common item like this would turn up!

Thanks to someone here on TBT, I now have the blue gym shorts!

Is the game programmed to do this? Hahaha. I always look for sleek sets and they appear commonly at the start before disappearing.
There was one time I had 3 regal pieces sold at T&T and saw someone say they never see the regal furniture appear in store.

I had this happen with the dessert case item in my previous town. My entire house was done except the main cafe room. I basically got to the point where I just grinded checking the shop every day and that became my main priority

This happened to me once with the ranch table. I couldn't find it anywhere. Finally after a long time of looking, I found one.

ok havent played acnl in forever but the NEUTRAL FLOOR i couldn't find it the first years of playing acnl i actually just found it last year in the nooklings shop. what the heck was it doing

The game does it on purpose, all of the previous games did it too. You're supposed to visit other towns and find items that way.

When you visit Timmy and Tommy's in another town they tell you this, something along the lines of "you may find items you cannot find in your own town".

Whenever I visit my nephew's town I find all sorts of stuff I never see in my own.

Yes the happens to me so often I have like 80% of the normal stuff but not the 20% I need uhg.

There was someone I street passed with that was begging for a regal bookcase.
I had one in my house - even set up a regal room for awhile hoping we would streetpass again.

I hope they saw my regal bookcase and were able to order it from the Showcase!
Or found it in some other way.
