Does anybody even look at badges?

I'll 1-up you. In about 14 hours, I'll go pick up my Doubutsu no Mori system from the Post Office, which will give me a FIFTH copy of this game (Japanese only since they're region locked), and I'll record a video with it to show you my 3DS game records with over 900 hours playing New Leaf, as well as my 3DS XL to show you the 300+ hours of playing New Leaf, to go along with my 2DS and its 500+ hours playing New Leaf. Then, I'll start up my main game (the one who's had the vast bulk of playing- the over 1,600 hours played one), show you my badges- all except 5 are now gold (2 will come in early March- fish encyclopedia and diving encyclopedia since I don't time travel, I will have to wait until March 1 when the loach and spider crab first appear to get those). I'll email the link to you probably in about 24 hours to prove what I say since you claim it's invalid.

Or, I could just take my 3 systems, and use them for pics of each other. Okay you asked for them, so here you go, gander at the truth of playing this game a combined 1,700 hours. First is from my TPC (as you see, all but 5 are gold), second is of the 3DS, third is the XL, and last is the 2DS (taken with the 3DS since it took the pic of the 3DS and XL's).
The 3DS is my main system (duh, it's approaching 1,000 hours), the XL is only used for Animal Crossing StreetPass tags at Nintendo Zones (don't like the large size), while the 2DS is the system I use while the 3DS charges/out of commission.

I almost always look. It helps inform me what kind of a player they are and their experience level.

Badges determine wealth in the world of Animal Crossing. That's basically the first thing I check when someone comes to my town or I come to theirs is badges. And then I know they check mine too, because they always will go "wow, yo uhave a lot of badges"
The streetpass badge is stupid, though, how does anyone expect to get that?

Go to Japan and walk through Tokyo for like a day. Boom 1000 streetpasses xD.
Thanks! Everyone is right, it's dedication TO THE MAX! Not only that, I just picked up my 4th system (Doubutsu no Mori version), which means I can now tag myself 12 times a day (two of 2DS:3DS, 2DS:3DS XL, 2DS:3DS LL, 3DS:3DS XL, 3DS:3DS LL, 3DS XL:3DS LL since you can only do one tag between the same 2 every 8 hours), and according to what I've calculated, I'll get my 1,000th in April.
My ultimate goal is all gold badges by June 10 (the end of my first year). Once I use my main one to host my others, it'll get its 500 visitors ("only" at 165 now, but that's a VERY easy one since I have so many system/games). Like I said before the fish and diving encyclopedias will be March 1 (hopefully), and I'm catching a LOT of fish everyday now (roughly 3,000 caught now since I don't fish often). I'm on pace to reach my goal by April (hopefully, the tags are taking longer than I had hoped- that's why I now have 4 systems). I'm an unusual gamer as you can see (a hardcore who likes the casual games, ones you can play an hour here, an hour there, etc).
So, yeah, even though I'm insane with this game, I still look at other people's badges, just to see what they focus on (lots are getting the 5,000 bug, since like me early on they used it for money, as well as the bug encyclopedia if you caught all the new bugs every month).

I never look at badges. Mine are pretty lame... I only have 2 gold ones. But then again I haven't been playing for that long
