Has anyone here watched Doctor Who? I wasn’t interested when my boyfriend first introduced it to me but it started to grow on me. Now I think it’s such a unique show that blends science fiction, adventure, and sometimes even horror, all wrapped up in the Doctor’s unpredictable time-traveling journeys. From the first few classic episodes with William Hartnell to the modern reboot with Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant, the show has evolved much over the years, but it still has its charm!

What I love about the show is the concept of regeneration; how the Doctor can completely change their appearance, personality, and even their perspective on life, yet still remain the same character at their core, just with new quirks, challenges, and a fresh outlook. I know a lot of people love Matt Smith's portrayal, but for me, David Tennant is hands down the best. I really enjoyed his compelling emotional depth, charming personality, memorable story arcs, and his unique ability to balance lightheartedness with moments of real tragedy.

- Who's your favorite Doctor? What makes their portrayal stand out to you?
- What’s your favorite episode of Doctor Who? Was it the storyline, the monsters, or the Doctor's character development that made it so memorable?
- Do you have a favorite companion?

Not much. One of my teachers once was really into it though and on days where we had nothing to do he would play epsiodes and I really liked it. Now i've been seing cool scenes like this that make me think I'll start watching it soon:

My parents watched it during the David Tennant and the Christopher Eccleston era when I was like 8 years old so I caught a bit of it on TV. My mom made a mii of David Tennant’s doctor and Rose Tyler, and I made a mii of the Master with glowing eyes. I made a paper version of him too, and my dad and I would make him hiss along with his coffee machine in the morning. They also had a squishy adipose. It’s mostly pleasant memories, though that episode where the planet or something started crashing into earth scared the crap out of me @.@ anyway, I’d like to check it out again someday, especially that nostalgic season.

I've seen all of the modern series except I haven't got around to watching the newest season yet. My favorite doctor was the 10th and I also really liked the 13th. I love how there are so many different kinds of stories since they can take place anywhere across time or space.

I love Doctor Who! I've been watching it since its revival with Christopher Eccleston, but I've also seen a few story arcs from Doctors 1-3.

My favorite doctor is easily David Tennant. I loved his storylines, his portrayal of the character, the range of emotions his doctor experienced. Matt Smith is another top tier doctor in my opinion. David Tennant was a tough act to follow, but I was surprised at how much I came to love his portrayal over time. Although, I've only seen a few episodes, I also think I would really like the 2nd doctor.

My favorite companion is Martha. I thought she was underutilized, being the follow-up to Rose. I wish they hadn't relegated her to a role of pining for the doctor who was still dealing with his loss. But Martha had a few of my favorite stories like The Shakespeare Code and Human Nature/Family of Blood. Bill also became another of my favorite companions by the end of her story arc. 🥲

My favorite episodes or storylines tend to be historical or horror-themed. My favorite episode ever was The Girl in the Fireplace. I am obsessed with the clockwork repair droids. I also love any episode with the Weeping Angels, the Silence, or the Ood. There's also The Mind Robber with the 2nd doctor which takes place in the Land of Fiction. I love that one too.

I only saw one episode and it was at school. It was about Vincent Van Gogh. I thought it was sad, but kind of interesting; however, I never explored the series further.

I know there are people who REALLY like it, though, and I liked hearing that Jinkx Monsoon played a villain last season lol.

There was a period of time where I was really into Doctor Who. I watched all of the seasons of the revival series that were available at the time, which were seasons 1 through 8 I think. I've also watched a handful of episodes from the classic series as well. I don't remember many specific episodes, just that I enjoyed it a lot at the time, and I do think it would be nice to watch it again sometime. My favorite Doctor was David Tennant.

Is Gridlock the most pointless episode ever? I just watched it tonight for the first time in about 10 years...

Why even bother using the motorway?

Milo and Chods car was outside of the motorway when they car-napped Martha, if it takes 6 months via the motorway why not fly from pharmacy town straight there ? Cos At the end of the episode the doctor told everyone to drive up and leave the motorway anyway...just saying.

Ah... another regeneration. How many have we had in the last 3 years?
The show is starting to lose its sparkle now, rotating and churning doctors trying to find one that works

the sixth doctor, master of sass. he didn't let the Barnyard push him around

my favorite episode though is probably one of 7s or 12s. most likely I have to give to 12s the World Enough in Time, but The Happiness Patrol tho

favorite companion is Ace

Ah! I forgot to come back and comment on this after the Easter egg hunt:)

Obviously I am a fan:)
I bought all of NuWho for my boyfriend two Christmases ago very shortly after we had started dating, but he only started watching it this past fall/Christmas-time with his daughter and totally fell in love with it. And then he went and found a bunch of Classic Who at thrift stores and we went back and watched some Tom and Colin Baker and Pertwee and McCoy too. And he went and watched all the NuWho spinoffs, Sarah Jane Adventures, Torchwood, Class. At first I didn’t understand how much he loved it because he would mostly complain about the plot holes (which I think as a fan you have to learn to love haha), but then he told me that whereas with most other shows of perhaps poorer quality he just expects plot holes and wouldn’t comment, with DW he was actually so in love with the show that he was mad at the moments where there could have been better alternatives to the plot holes.

We finally caught up with the latest season, and it’s such a bummer that now there’s a little break until there are new episodes again! But I’m looking forward to the new spinoff coming up, The War Between the Land and the Sea.

My favorite Doctor was Tennant (10). His manic doctor was just fun, and he was romantic and bold and dramatic. So glad we got a little taste of him again as 14.

Clara is one of my favorite companions. Fell in love with her first introduction as Oswin. The period with Matt Smith was iffy because the writers didn’t know what to do with her, but her time with Capaldi was so endearing. I love that she was smart and clever and brave and bold. And let’s face it, Jenna Coleman is just darn beautiful which is a nice bonus. But she was such a long running companion and always so caring and heartwarming and didn’t mind standing up to the doctor, and had cool agency and was just an all around solid character (within the confines of the ever changing landscape of Doctor Who and all its plot holes lol)

I think when I did the first watch through of 9/10, I liked Rose the best, but Martha has really grown on me. And Donna! Oi! I thought she was so abrasive at first, but she became one of my favorites too! Glad she came back; that Tennant/Tate chemistry is so fantastic.

And then when my boyfriend went back and watched, he pointed out how great Capaldi was and I think I was just fixed on my usually response that Tennant was my favorite (which I formed somewhere in the Tennant or Matt Smith years), and I was so busy being enamored of Clara, but now I definitely thinking Capaldi is pretty high up there just behind Tennant for me on my list of favorite doctors. I love his grumpy old man with a heart of gold.

I think the great thing about both Tennant and Capaldi besides just being just great actors is that they are both clearly fans, so they take great care with the franchise, and also they have a flair for bringing a little something cool to the character. I loved that Capaldi was very mindful of being inclusive with his fans, making costume choices so any young fan could participate, such as by putting on a pair of sonic sunglasses and then being able to become the Doctor!

I was really liking Belinda Chandra. She was really spunky. Not happy with her ending despite myself being a medical professional! And trying to be a mom myself very soon! So I have sympathy for/want to champion the really important work of raising kids! But somehow it seemed like a rushed 180 rewrite for her character, so it was disappointing.

Well, the great thing about Who, the genius of writing regeneration into the show, is that new folks come along all the time and there’s always such great potential. And if you don’t like a current incarnation, a new one will be along shortly!

I meant to come back to talk about the most recent season and I'm just now getting around to it.

The episodes during Ncuti Gatwa's run have been hit or miss for me. However, I still really love him as the doctor. He brings such a positive and fun energy to the role that I've never seen from any of the other doctors. The closest would probably be David Tennant in his more light-hearted moments. Gatwa's exit was a very unwelcome surprise and I'm really disappointed that I won't be able to watch him do more with the role.

Yes! I've been wanting to rant about this because I really hated her ending. I liked her character a lot, and I was fine with her wanting to keep and raise Poppy as long as it was her decision. It was part of her caring nature, the same nature that led her into the medical profession. But when history was rewritten so Poppy was always her daughter and she forgot her own desire to continue traveling with the Doctor, I was angry because they took away her agency. Her life was no longer of her own making, just something that had always been.

all of my family really like the christopher eccleston, david tennant and billie piper era of doctor who. also really like donna and enjoyed the second and third 60th anniversary specials episodes with her

my favourite episodes are doomsday (the daleks and cybermen insult each other and honestly just the song alone), turn left, rose and partners in crime. definitely going to rewatch them along with the others at some point

i'm pretty excited for billie to return to doctor who! feel that they definitely left the door open for david tennant to return somehow at the end of the 60th anniversary specials..
