I prefer Dobie over Fang.

I would keep Dobie. He has the more unique character design of the two with his elderly appearance, and as you said, you enjoy mixing up your town. It seems like it would be a waste to get rid of Dobie when you just acquired him recently.

Dobie, because he has a more unique and memorable design (I had to look up what Fang looks like, oops). With him in town you really mix things up qua appearances

Dobie and Fang are actually quite different from each, both cranky but with different hobbies,
Fang will have a slightly deeper voice/pitch than dobie and his hobby is Education. Dobie's hobby is Nature I I believe.
According to what I've noticed on my Island villagers with the Education hobby will often be seen wearing reading glasses and they would be seen sitting down reading a book or observing plants.
Villagers with the Nature hobby will be usually seen catching bugs or fish, I think they might also be seen with what looks like an encyclopedia when standing near flowers, not sure about this one's exclusivity, I think I need to observe my villagers more.

Ohm that's interesting. I had no idea that this was a thing with the voice pitch.
I just assumed the voice would be the same across the personality type.
