ever since i got used to my island layout, i’ve had mine set to “always off”—admittedly, it can be confusing while visiting islands i haven’t gotten familiar with yet, but i find the minimap distracting whenever it appears! sometimes i turn it on while terraforming, too c: what about you guys?
i always keep my map off while moving. not really for my island but it's handy when i'm traveling to someone else's island. if i never went to other people's island then it'd probably be always off.
Mine's always just left on always on lol, I use it when I go to other islands but forget to switch the settings. I think I usually turn it off when I'm trying to take a photo or something
I keep it when I’m moving, but I feel like I don’t need it anymore because I know my location now. It would be nice though if they added a npc or balloon tracker in there.
Mine is off while I'm moving. At this point, I don't really need the map anymore since I think I've pretty much memorized where everything is. However, on the topic of different people's islands, that's a different story, where I always use it.
Yes, always. I so wish there were little trackers on it though. To track where villagers are and especially visitors and vendors. The only one that’s always easy to track is Redd due to his boat. Everyone else scares me when I end up bumping into them.
I have it as Always On even if I don't actively look at it while I'm on my own island (except for the weekday mornings where I use it to check if Redd is on my island (he never is)). I used to look at it a bunch on my own island at the beginning since I felt like I easily missed some spots on my island, but now that I have paths down it really isn't that necessary anymore. It just tends to make things easier whenever I go to other people's islands, though, since then I have an idea of where everything is.
Mine is off while moving. At one point, I put it completely off, but then I went to visit someone's town and I realised I reallllly needed the map and it gave me anxiety. And I visit a lot of towns. I'd rather just have it off while moving now so I don't have to toggle the map on and off when visiting other islands.
Off while moving, I just like having my map there when I'm not moving around.
I might not look at it or use it on my island, but it's nice to have it there.
Idk, when I terraform I like to see how it looks on the mini map as I go. Ofcourse details get really scrunched up on the smaller map, but I want to see if it looks 'natrual' enough; not alot of straight edges or of the cliffs/water sources look weirdly shaped.
I always have it on. To me, there’s something soothing about looking at my map, especially when I compared it to when I first started out. Call me weird, but it’s like watching your own baby grow up.
Mine is always on. I really like looking at it and it's a nice resource when I'm on someone else's island looking for something if they aren't leading me to it.
