Do you think the world will end in 2012.

Yellowstone.

You may know Yellowstone to be a very beautiful place with extraordinary scenery and breathtaking water plumes, but underneath that is a super volcano. Super volcanoes are 3 to 4 times more powerful than a normal volcano, and many are hidden in places you would not think of, such as the ocean floor. This particular volcano goes off about every 645,000 years. Well, it has a high possibility that Yellowstone could blow up, (Hence Yellowstone blowing up in the movie 2012.) which would destroy a good chunk, if not all of the United States. The ash from this explosion would for sure wipe out the rest of the country, (Washington D.C. scene in 2012) being up to several feet high. The ash would eventually spread and cover the world, and... well you get the idea. The reaction from a super volcano going off could also trigger others to go off as well.

...I feel like watching 2012 now.

There is also solar flares to boot. (If we still make it past both of these, the sun is going to blow up in about 5 million years. It's true. It's what happens to all stars.)
It's not 5 million years, it's more than 5 billion. And at that point it won't explode, but it will become a red giant and start expanding. It will swallow our planet, but it won't become a supernova, it doesn't have enough mass.

Isn't it supposed to become so huge, after it swallows Earth, it'll go boom?

Hmm..big bang all over again?

Well, it won't explode, it will actually implode and become a dense dwarf star. But we'll be long dead by then.

But even a huge supernova is peanuts next to the big bang.

No, not big bang again. >.>

worlds not gonna end in 2012 im just gonna be chillin with my xbox with some music playing while everyones freaking out.

Maybe, well, we can't tell now can we?
(Cue Doctor who related Bull *censored.2.0*)
Well, in Doctor who, the world does end with the sun expanding into the earth, but everyone had already left the planet by then, thus the New Earth title being given to mostly every other planet.

I really don't know how that is connected to DW, oh well.

And the last of the human race is...Lady Cassandra. MOISTURIZE HER. XD

The sun is supposed to expand out to here in billions of years, but it won't just explode from it. What it is is that the sun will run out of hydrogen atoms to fuse into helium, and then starts fusing the helium, which causes more power and thus the expansion, not after the helium it is no longer able to sustain further fusing, and has a few options I believe... I don't quite remember what ours is in the size category for but I think it is just going to burn out into a brown dwarf star or something...

We really don't know when the world will end (but I believe how). Aside from religion, I think it's stupid to assume that the world will end in 2012 because some Mayan mapmaker got bored from writing down dates a couple thousand years into the future. Or the civilization just died off before he could finish.

That's disgusting.

By the time the sun gets big enough to kill us we'll have either killed ourselves off or have found a shiney new planet to live on.

I still can't believe you guys brought back this topic. Anyway, as before, I still think that the world will not end in 2012. They've been saying it for years. I've actually seen a documentary for the world to end in 2010 as well. Are you dead? I don't think so.
