It's highly..likely....from what's been going on recently.
'from whats been going on lately'?
The fact is only theese thing can cause this theory to be correct:
1. Meteor strike (wont happen for 100 years so yea)
2. Nuclear war/Holocaust/Winter. (The only country which can start this is America and with Obama as president i dont see this happening).
3. Worldwide Famine (give it another billon years)
4. Alien Invasion/ Interstellar war (Just no)
5. Global Warming (Just no, Really).

so its NOT likely. its probability are in the billons.
Ohhhh...you never know. you just never know.
Look dude its not happening.
Since there is NO evidence to back-up this theory.
At least Y2K had SOME substance.
LOL. Y2K was a system failure, because it slipped the programmers' minds that it was possible for a year 2000 and beyond.
Exactly, it had *censored.3.0*ing Substance enough to cause the theorys.

This one doesnt.

A meteor can't strike Earth. It's scientifically impossible.
Besides, if one did, wouldn't it shrink to a tiny pebble as it shoots down towards Earth?

Hahaha, yeah. The requirements of being a meteor involves it burning up in the atmosphere before reaching earth. Now if it was a meteorite...it may reach earth, but end up as a tiny pebble.

Bah, I don't believe in the world ending in 2012, that's when the Mayans believe the Fire Age will begin. Which pretty much means that it has nothing to do with the end of the world, but rather just the beginning of a new age for the Mayans.

Thank you!

The Mayans said it was going to be the start of a new era, not the end of the world.

It's my belief it could happen at any time.

All we need is for Yellowstone to erupt. Which it will, in due time.

An asteroid can strike earth. There are asteroids bigger than Earth itself.

Yes, an asteroid can. I never said it couldn't. But a meteor burns up in the atmosphere. If it doesn't burn up in the atmosphere, then it's not a meteor. Instead, it's a meteoroid, or, if only a piece gets through, a meteorite.

An asteroid is a planetoid/minor planet that orbits the sun. That's a different category.

What about the Sun shooting a giant flare at Earth or tempatures rising so hot then that we all fry, or all plants die, etc.

Also the Yellow Stone erupting would not affect ALL of the USA. The ash and soot that come from it will affect a portion of the world. The gas cloud would not kill EVERYTHING just a very large amount of plants and animals

Way to bump an old thread.

As for that supervolcano at Yellowstone, the amount of ash it would put out would affect the whole world. The Krakatoa eruption in 1883 for example, precipitated a global decline in average temperatures and chaotic weather for years. The Yellowstone volcano is far, far larger than that one.

Sorta. We already have progress of global warming, tsunami, powerful earthquakes, etc. We all know that the word will end someway and a lot of religions and tribes have there own way of saying when the world will end.

Sorry, I keep getting May and March confused and I don't know why. Also I didn't want to create a new topic on this when there are already a few

I read that the global temperature decrease was very little during that explosion. Lets say that there was a global temperature decrease of 20 degrees Fahrenheit. People will still be able to survive
