I think it would be odd to not be able to place them wherever now, given all the control we have over the island. I really hope we can, because I prefer them to the normal trees.
I think we should be able to plant them in the south, I mean the north is surrounded by beach still unlike previous games, so the changing ecosystem gradient doesn't really exist on this island if you know what I mean.
Also, I wonder if you can just uproot it and move it to the south without it dying.

I don't see them bothering to change this. I wish we could have them anywhere though. Evergreen trees exist in the south in the real world. I live in the US south and I have a variety of evergreen trees in my yard.

like others have said, since we’re now able to pick up trees, we might be able to move them to whatever part of the island we want, which i hope is the case aha
