In case you don't know what a CRT (cathode ray tube) television is, it's the ones with the "fat back" on it. you can google it if you're still unsure.

I personally do. it's prob bc of nostalgia and also my fascination with older tech, but I think that even though the quality of CRT television displays isn't perfect they're really fascinating. I have a slightly older one in my bedroom (prob 2005-era) as well as one from 1986 in another room (yes it works but the color is awful lol, I use that one for NES/Atari/etc).

Nope! We used to have one at our cottage but we sold the place and left it there.

Nope, all the TVs in my house are non-CRTs. We haven't had a CRT TV in years, which I'm kinda thankful for since it's a pain to try and move those kinds of TVs.

It really is a pain though, i swear mine weighs at least like 45 lbs 😆😆

I figure most people here prob don't have one anymore but I wanted to ask anyways, maybe there are a few other old tech nerds here 👀

I had one that I loved more than any other tv i've ever had up until a few years ago when i moved states. It was just too much to take with me so i gave it to my neighbor who put it in their sons room.

I loved it though, it was such a great tv huge? sure but dang i loved it

I own two CRTs. One is in storage and the other is in my room. They’re great for playing retro games since older systems tend to look really bad on modern TVs. The CRT in my room is a bit worn out, so I might look for a replacement set.

I have at least 3 CRT TVs that I can think of at the moment. The two largest ones are plugged up with some older gaming systems hooked up to them, but I haven't used either of them in years. Then, I have a much smaller one, maybe 13" or 15", that was in my bedroom as a child. I still have it, but it's just being stored in my basement. As far as I know, they all still work, but there's an odd color blotch on the upper left corner of one of the big ones.

At first I said I had one but not using it, which is true, I have one in my room that I used for videogames, but didn't use it for a while (console broken), but then, I remembered that we had one in the basement and I occasionally use when I really want to see something on TV and can't because I'm not the master of the remote control.

i don’t and i honestly never have — i’ve only ever used and owned modern tvs. 😅

i want to get one ! a lot of games i like were optimized to be played on them i think they are really neat

Haven't had one in a long time but I would like to maybe own one again for nostalgia and play some of my older consoles. I'm currently still playing my gamecube and ps2 every now and then but since the new TVs dont support those inputs anymore I have a ton of cables to make it work on my computer monitor which is a mess 😅

My current TV is a 8K one that I was able to get for half off via my work but honestly there is barely anything 8k out there right now so I'd be equally happy with a previous model.

We do have a fat back one in the closet (storage/weight issues lol), though we use a regular flat tv, nothing smart or anything just so we can actually watch linear/cable TV like the cool peeps. 🤓

I had one for quite a few years until it carked it. We couldn't afford anything else, I grew up in a pretty poor family for the most part. I now just use a modern tv.

I was about to say no, and that it's been a while since my family had one, but then it hit me. We do have one! It's in storage at the moment, but the last time I used it, it still worked. The reason I dug it out of storage a couple of years ago was because I really wanted to watch the movie "The Point" by Harry Nilsson, which we own... in VHS format lol Thankfully the "old" CRT television we have is "modern" enough that it is a TV/VCR combo.

We only have one TV in the house and it's a flatscreen that I've got from my father some time ago. (I still need to find the 3D glasses for it, because it can make everything 3D and it's funny to play Nintendo games with a bit of a 3D effect).. but no, I don't have a CRT TV anymore.
I think they are really cool, because of nostalgia, but I get easily sick of images that are not exactly clean looking, so I guess even if I wanted to,
I could not use one. >:

My parents still have two sitting around in the house, but neither are in use and haven’t been in a long time. Both bring back a lot of memories! The smaller one was used when we had cable tv ( I was in elementary ) and I would watch Disney movies on VHS tapes. The other tv currently sits idle in the living room where it used to be used, but is now replaced with one of our flat screen TVs. There were many times I would have to smack the side or top of the tv when it would start to black out 😂

Not anymore. Had several throughout the years growing up. Last one I had was as a teen in my room. My brother had an identical model but his stopped working so I gave up mine even though I didn't really want to. (He has major developmental issues and watching tv is basically his way of coping/keeping busy). A few years after he had it, it quit working as well and he's had a flatscreen ever since.

Neat thing to note about the last one I had is that it had a built in DVD and VCR player. Fancy by CRT standards haha.
