Do you prefer your villager houses lined up or spread?

I like them spread around. It makes my town look more like the others that aren't lined.

I like my villagers lined up because it looks neater and it's easier to landscape my town. But I have seen towns where the villagers were spread out and it looked really nice. :)

I like the spread. I think perfect lines are cool, but a spread is just more interesting imo. I think it makes landscaping outside of each villagers' house more person and tailored to them.

I like them spread, simply because if I had them all in one line, they would only walk in one specific area and the town would seem less alive, so having villagers walking all over makes it seem more livelier. Having them lines up does look neat but I personally would have them all spread out :3

I like them spread apart since my daily route is based on where the houses are and I generally don't explore areas with no houses (though I still landscape them) and would miss digging spots, lost items, etc. if they were located there. Usually the empty areas of my town I make into really pretty spots or PWPs like a campsite or cafe so i have a reason to go to the unpopulated spots.
However I like when villagers have houses clustered together like a little neighborhood, in my town Tipper, Melba and Julian have their homes very close together, with Tipper and Melba next to each other (though not in a straight line) and Julian directly behind Tipper, and there's also a small pond so it feels like a little suburban neighborhood :)

I like them spread out, but I like to keep them all in a certain area. Currently, all of my villagers live on the southern part of my map, below the river. I like it better that way.

It depends on the theme of the town. For my main I have them lined up but in my side town they're a little spread out (with some still being lined up)

I like them spread AND lined <3
I'm not a huge fan of villagers living together in clusters (perfectly lined) because it makes the map/ town look barren.
I also dislike spread zigzagged houses with terrible landscaping XP It looks too sloppy and unorganized imo, and it drives me crazy, lol (some towns look amazing tho).

i like them to be spread out,
or i am just too lazy to plot reset to make them all perfectly lined up XD

You make it sound like New Leaf have a big map?

As for me I must have it spread. I feel lonely walking in area without a house or villagers.

I like them all on one side of the map for the main part because it gives the feel of a neighborhood, but other than that i dont mind

Personally, I like a mix! There's one spot in my main town that is PERFECT for having the villagers lined up, but other than that, a mix makes my walk around town more interesting. In my second town, everyone lives in one big clump. Even when they're outside of their home, the animals stay together which makes the other parts of my town completely empty. I'm trying to work on that...

I have mine lined and spread out, as long as they have another villager near by I don't mind how spread out they are. Currently all of my villagers are on the bottom half of my town and I like it a lot that way.

I like them lined. It looks neat, and it's easier to landscape! I also like it because it feels like a neighborhood! :D

All my villagers are spread out except for 3, where I felt being lined up was mandatory for that particular area as it would feel empty otherwise.

both. I have a little cluster of 3 in one area. 2 behind my house and the rest are spread. I like the variety of having both. As long as they don't move onto something important we're good.
