Handheld. I feel that that's what Animal Crossing should be made for. Just because, it's a game that I can take with me on holiday or where ever I want to. Also, I think that most games that are based on real timing should be handheld.
Oh and when my parents want the TV, I don't have to stop playing either.
I like both, what I'd really like is if you could have the game on both and just sync your town so you could play which ever way you prefer at the time.
I've owned all 4, and I must say I prefer handheld. It's portable and graphic quality isn't lost (imho anyway). It's great to own when you have to be somewhere and still wanna do the holiday events without TTing.
I prefer handheld, but I had a ton of fun with the GCN AC and Coty Folk, it's just now that the AC community is easier to be a part of, having it on handheld would be easier.
I've actually only played Wild World, New Leaf and Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City. I didn't enjoy LGttC much at all but I think that was more down to the Wii control system than the actual game itself.
I think Animal Crossing will always do a lot better on the handheld system for a few reasons, the main one being the convenience to play it whilst out and about. Another key feature is the stylus on the 3DS allows kids to essentially draw designs easily whilst also allowing older and more creative players to create really inspiring designs adding a lot more personality to each persons town and clothing.
That said I'd love a HD version of Animal Crossing for the Wii U as that too has the stylus and a lot of potential with the control pad. I think ultimately it comes down to the console you put it on, the 3DS/2DS offers a great variety of features such as the stylus, streetpass, mobility etc and right now it's the obvious one for Animal Crossing but with the right amount of development and maybe even some connectivity with AC:NL a Wii U version could be very impressive.
Easily the handhelds over a regular console. I only get a chance to use my main console twice a week or so, whereas I've always got some free time while I'm in bed to just fool around with Animal Crossing for a bit. That doesn't mean I don't think they should make a Wii U version- I just probably wouldn't be as interested in it as another handheld version.
Handheld definitely. I wouldn't want to sit in front of the tv playing and unable to go anywhere. At least handheld if portable and convenience for me to play my game anywhere. That why I only bought 3ds =D
I've only ever played AC:NL and AC:WW, both of which were handheld titles. I like the idea of playing a home console version, but, at the same time, that would involve shelling out more money for something that is more restricting in some ways. It's definitely nice to have the option to take my 3DS XL anywhere I go, theoretically erasing boredom or whatnot.
so hard to choose, i started on AC gamecube when i was like 10, im now 23 and have only played the handheld versions since, i had some of the best memories on the gamecube but overall handheld always wins out, especially for a game like this, perfect for a qucik 15 minutes, consoles for me are more for sports games with friends.
Handheld! I got into New Leaf wayy more then I got into City Folk. While part of this is probably because it's a complete overhaul, I really think the fact that it's on handheld made at least some sort of difference. (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
Voted handheld as well
- played city folk but I was stuck in the spare bedroom with the spare TV, on my own.
Never felt like firing the whole thing up for just 10mins play.
Played acww & now acnl - & love it, can play where I want, - plus the bonus of picking up streetpasses/houses in HHA in NL
Not sure I would want to play on the WiiU (if Nintendo make a version for the console) unless they link the game with the 3DS (which I guess they could do).
