I mostly prefer to play alone because I'm actually scared of feeling like I have to entertain someone even though I'm doing 10,000 things all at the same time and I feel like I don't have time for them but I open my gate and tell them they can explore and shop and always hope that's good enough :c

I prefer playing with friends, though I prefer to talk on Skype now instead of use the messaging ingame. I'm normally pretty nervous with my hybrids the first time playing with someone but once I've determined they're trustworthy then they're free to come and go and wander as they please.

Though if I've got gardening to do or stuff planned (or refurbishing to do!) I'd usually rather do it alone, but I'll put things off if I have the chance for company.

Wow, a lot of you play by yourselves! I guess that's why the Train Station has the least amount of people.

I prefer playing alone. No one, not even my family, around here plays ACNL. A lot of it is trust issues. No one knows me and I know no one else. We all work hard on our towns and do not want anything or anyone to mess them up, also I am a very slow typer so messaging makes me nervous. It is just easier to play alone.

I love playing alone and with others, however when playing with others there's usually those awkward silences after saying hello and what not, which I hate and it makes me go red irl lmao

Alone. I don't have to be bothered by the fact you can't access the inventory with the keyboard out. That, and no stolen hybrids.

I like playing alone. I've never been good at playing on-line with others. I prefer to have the person I'm playing with in the same room as I am so I can just talk to them and not try to type something out or use Dr Shrunk's "jokes". My sister now has her own game and she gets a kick out of seeing me walk around in her town when I'm there dropping something off for her.

I prefer playing alone unless it's with someone I know IRL (and only one of my friends plays AC:NL).

I do like visiting other people's towns, but I'm socially awkward and always feel uptight and nervous when I talk to people. The character limit of the keyboard makes it difficult to talk at times; I wind up typing "ty" instead of "thank you" even though I try to be as polite as possible (and "ty" doesn't feel as polite as "thank you").

I also am overly cautious of where I go when I visit towns; since I don't know the layout like I know my town, I try not to even walk quickly (let alone run) because I'm worried about messing something up by accident (even in my town, I once accidentally destroyed a flower). That adds to some of the stress in visiting unknown towns besides the interaction.

I really prefer playing alone, but I like to play with friends every now and then too. Without friends, I feel like I don't have to worry about what they might be doing; I just have to worry about me.
Plus, we all need that friend break in our life sometimes.

Island tours are definitely more fun with friends. So I prefer that part with friends.

Everything else, I'd rather do alone. I've played with a lot of people in the last year, and only a few of them were super fun. Most of the time, it's actually kind of a hassle. I really like people, so it's not that I'm anti-social. It's just that I'm not very good with small talk. So I hate the beginning of friendships. It's only fun for me once we've been bff's for a while and we're comfortable. Usually, I'm already busy doing stuff in the game and don't want to stop to chit chat either. So ya, it's kind of awkward with other people.

I love playing with friends. I prefer using other forms of communication like Skype to chat, though. The in-game keyboard is a hassle to use. Whether it be doing tours, scouring the town, or going to K.K.'s show, I love the activities you can partake in when you play over Wifi. It makes the experience richer for me.

Alone I guess? I don't have any AC playing friends and it seems like it would be a hassle anyway. I just like to do my own thing :x

All those things are really fun with friends, but only for about 5-10 minutes. The problem I run into is that once that's done, you're kinda stuck with the other player. :/ I usually like to go to other people's town, so after a bit I can just say gotta go. Otherwise, I would feel so awkward.

I play 99.9% by myself. I'm cool with peeps coming over for a villager or whatever, but I play alone. Way more fun for me. My wife has a character in my town and we pass it back and forth and talk about it.

This is an interesting question. I voted "alone"because, in my opinion, so much of what makes Animal Crossing fun can really only be done when playing alone. Decorating your town and house. Unlocking various shops. Collecting various set and rare items. Working on your museum.

But at the same time, I think that a lot of these solo experiences can really be enhanced by multiplayer. Going to other towns and house to get ideas for decorating, checking out a shop in a friend's town that you haven't unlocked yet, trading items and museum collectibles, and in some cases, going to towns to catch bugs/fish that aren't currently available in your own.

Now that you mention it, yeah all those things are very important to my enjoyment of the game. If it wasn't for the trading forums, I don't think I would have gotten so obsessed with the game. I forgot that those things require other players. XD
