I prefer hacked, mainly because they look cool and sometimes you can glitch in them.

If the owner has pulled it off correctly then I much prefer hacked towns because it's something new.

Both are fine by me. But if I see a really good normal town that hasn't been hacked that means much more to me than any hacked towns.

I'm not going to vote on this one because I prefer when a town is interesting and beautiful, hacked or non-hacked. If only there were a neither/no preference/who cares option.

honestly hacked towns tend to look a lot better because they are hacked and its a lot easier to get the aesthetically pleasing things (e.g. clovers/throwing beans/stumps etc.) and place them wherever you please. but like you said there is little to no effort put in, in terms of getting these things. however having tried myself to hack my town, I can definitely confirm it is very hard (and dangerous!)

I have to disagree that they don't take effort.
Some people put a lot of time and effort into hacking their towns, getting them to look just right to them.

Sure, it's a different effort and sure it might be easier to get items and plants just where you want them vs an unhacked town, but to suggest that it doesn't still take effort is just absurd to me.

That being said, Animal Crossing is the type of game that, in my opinion, is meant to be played in a way you enjoy. You're suppose to be able to customize it to our liking. If hacking allows people to take that a step further, who are we to suggest that it's wrong? I have seen all the effort people put into making their towns, both natural and hacked.
They both have different elements to them that make them challenging.

I personally prefer hacked towns, at least the good ones in my opinion. You can see how much effort and time they put into their towns. How creative they are.
Sure some of them fall short and look more like a clusterbutt of a mess, but if that's how THEY like their town, I'm not going to crap all over it.

Natural towns are also nice, they show all the challenges that people probably went through to get everything. But then again, having online communities makes it easier, because a lot of people will give away what someone wants or needs to finish their town. So it doesn't take AS much effort.

I think people should be allowed to play Animal Crossing how ever they want, without judgement from others.
I find it a shame that people are being judged for how they're playing Animal Crossing. It is a game meant to be played how you want, so judging people for following those guidelines is well...

I like watching hacked town but at the same time I don't like it because I hate it when I see a nice area that I can't really "make" myself because of hacks

My towns are hacked to an extent, but I still worked very hard on them. I just placed some bamboo in the water to line my bridges, and moved my PWPs to where I wanted them.

I prefer non-hacked towns. There's plenty of hacked towns that are very pretty and creative, though.

I like hacked towns but as someone who has no way to hack their town I can't help but feel sad that hacked towns get so much attention when natural towns take much more effort and time to make! (I do not hack so I don't truly know how much time it really takes)

Yeah, I've been getting that impression as well. In a way I kinda get it since people are bored with the game but still, there's ways to make the game interesting by going for a different theme or go completely out of the box with villagers.

I love seeing the non hacked towns a lot better. Seems more work got put into those to make it look beautiful than a hacked town. Plus i love to get ideas from other peoples towns since im so horrible at filling up empty spaces.

As a person who is friends with a few hackers, I can tell you for sure that hacked towns take some work. I mean, you have to use codes and cheats correctly or else it can either mess stuff up or nothing will happen. And waiting for the changes to take place is already tedious enough. (It can takes a few hours depending on your 3DS and how many actions you're doing)

So, IMHO, both types are equally good. Both can take equal amounts of work. I have no preference because they both can turn out beautiful in the end.

I didn't even know hacked towns were a thing! How does one even do that? Well, I guess that makes me a non-hacked town voter.

I personally hate hacked towns, yes they may look nice, but you didn't really put in the time and effort that non-hacked towns do

I don't really mind either, but I would prefer a non-hacked town than a hacked one. I understand that it takes a lot of effort to hack towns, but whenever I have visited a hacked town I always found it overdone. What's the point of putting clovers or bamboo shoots in a river? It just doesn't look appealing to me. Or what's the point of putting the town tree on the beach? It looks out of place there and it's not a lovely sight. So yes, I would prefer a non-hacked town, not because of the effort, but because I know for certain that it won't be all messed up.

Non hacked

I think that hacked towns can look lovely, and I have nothing against hacked towns but to me AC isn't about obsessing over perfection, but making the most of what you're given and being grateful for it! Plus, I'm going to enjoy each game for what it is, so I'm going to play new leaf as it was given to me! Then, when AC switch is released, it will likely upgrade and expand on these features and add more, so I'll play that as a different game! There'll be things that don't need hacking to be possible anymore and it will be a difference, and those of us who haven't hacked will be more grateful for it. I have seriously considered hacking before but I realised that I've just got to be satisfied with the game for what it is! I wanted a second town but I'm just going to work on Ozryn until ac switch comes out and then my towns can evolve and improve as the whole ac series has!
I started this game in autumn of 2018 so I was a bit late to jump on board, and at this point there are A LOT of hacked towns, as I've discovered in not even a year of playing! They look cool, but I'm happy with what I've got and wish everyone else could be!
Plus, if you're bored, go get another copy or restart!

Something that people keep forgetting is that you're allowed to set your own limits with hacking. It doesn't have to make things any easier, in fact in my case it makes things even harder, since I like to obtain hybrids/trees/pwps the legit way, only now I have more space to fill (ponds, rivers, edges). I have spent half a year on my town and it's not even 10% done. Most of my time goes into planning.

Seems to me that the majority of people who seem kinda bitter towards hacking (implying it takes less effort, insisting one is better than the other), are usually people who haven't been able to get into hacking themselves.
