Do you play with a second character?

I have never had residents besides my mayor for any reason other than storage. I know a lot of people have OC ideas and make them along with their mayor, but when do you play with them? Do you just get an itch to play with your second character instead of your mayor? Or do you play another character based on your mood?

I only use my second and third characters for storage and to get extra Saharah, Redd, and event items. I also use their houses for my fast bell transferring service. I have a lovely phone and trash bin in one of their houses to make it basically a service center. I don't invest a lot of time in developing their homes and attire though. I just think it is kind of weird to have multiple "main" characters that you play as. For lack of a better term, it seems like it is kind of bipolar. Like if I couldn't decide how I want to decorate my character's house or how I want to dress my character or even whether I want my character to be male or female, that I'd create another character or two or three to have it both ways. Personally, I think towns with 4 fully developed and decorated mansions are a little too busy and overwhelming. I can't get a sense of a person's personal style because that person has 4 different houses and 24 different rooms.

In my old town, I made a cafe on my extra character, (and on my 3rd character just did more rooms, I had plenty of ideas i wanted to see completed)
I also used them for sapling storage, furniture storage, and for the designs for the pathways

I have extra players like characters. One of them is my gardener, one is my decorator, etc. For me, it makes it more enjoyable to have different characters for different things. :3

I have two extra characters originally made for QR code terms but I may get rid of the to make a main side character slot that I will actually use. I'd most likely only use it for another house to decorate and hold items with.
I personally feel more like myself when using my main character so I don't really enjoy drifting away from it.
I do want to make a new 3rd character somewhere near the top of my town to act as an easily accessible ATM and trash deposit, mainly for guests who may be doing many ATM transactions. I'm not quite sure, as i'm still deciding my town even after 2 years n~n

I like to use them for their homes. I love decorating their homes in a completely different style to the mayor. I also use them for extra QR codes and extra storage or for events. My sister used to have a character too when she used to play with me.

I don't. There is so much to do with my current mayor that starting a brand new character just seems like too much work. I'm also the type who, when faced with a full cupboard, house and museum rooms, says: "Gee it's time to have a big spring clean" and not "Gee I wish I had more space." I don't even use three quarters of the things I own.

Like most people, I tend to just use them for storage. I only have 1 at the moment but I can see me getting another quite soon..

I just created one yesterday, I plan on using her for laying out paths and extra storage.

I use my extra characters for QR designs. I have trouble coming up with names for extra characters so I tend to base them on the girls from the Harvest Moon games. I do play as them every now and again and I like to decorate their houses for fun.

I hhad issues coming up with names as well, i mean the first one was named after my cat

If you visit my two "Signature" towns, Applewin and ACNLpics, you will see I have reason for using numerous humans in addition to town mayors. There is purpose. It makes for a busier and more difficult balance. (For example: If you go without playing a secondary character past one week, with the game date, your town villagers will weep about how much they missed Players 2, 3, and 4.) But there are rewards. (This includes having more opportunities to lay down numerous and various town paths.) So, it depends on what you want out of your town and how you choose to handle playing it.

I always have at least 3 side characters and will usually make plans for a fourth once i don't need that slot for plot resetting anymore. They can be helpful for storage but I love decorating each of their homes and designing them and their gardens and giving them personalities! And I get to work for badges with them rather than just my mayor, giving me something else to work towards. Badges aren't as important to me as some others since I'm not much of a completionist, but It gives me something to do when I'm finished with my town.

OH AND PATH HOLDING. CANT FORGET DAT PATH HOLDING!!!!!!!!!!

I use my secondary character to store all my saplings and bush starts and to do the landscaping c:

In my town of Crystal, I made 3 characters on the first day to create a "neighborhood". I love it. I don't use them much but I do have them talk to the villagers to see if I get different things they say. Indeed, male vs. female speech can be different!

I used to have a second character I played in my old town, but only because I didn't like my mayor.
