Do you or will you ever hunt for for avaragely popular or unpopular villagers?

I don't go hunting with a specific villager in mind... I invite the first one I like and connect. Recently I invited Shari (some really dislike her) on my 10th ticket. The most I used was 27
I have bought a few amiibos and none of them are super popular: Papi, Flora, Sprinkle, Dobie and Molly
 
For sure I would! A lot of my favorites are either average or unpopular, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I'm not a fan of the whole idea of villager tiers. They're all good in their own ways and everyone has different preferences. I don't think any one villager is worth more or less than any other.
 
I have the official AC guide. I went through it and made a fairly extensive villager shopping list. It didn't matter to me whether they were popular, I just picked the ones that appealed to me and/or fit certain themes. However, I've run across several interesting villagers on mystery islands that I don't remember from the guide at all. I think they must not "photograph" well or there are other villagers from the same personality and species that outshine them. I took Norma the pink cow while villager shopping. She wasn't on my list, nor is she popular. I just liked her when I saw her and could envision her on my island.
 
Average villagers are pretty much all I have.

With a few exceptions, I don't even particularly like most of the popular characters.
 
I think once I get bored of my current villagers, I’ll start actively seeking out the weirdos. There’s just too many (400+?) to only stick with the top 20 “pretty ones”
 
I'm planning on moving out Merengue after I get her photo, and because I have each personality in my town, the villager who replaces her might be just about anyone! And luckily I have my dreamies, one of which was the unpopular Elmer, so I'll be way less picky now and look forward to just hunt for anyone who looks cool :)
 
My siggy has my dreamies, and some aren't super popular.

Probably my least popular favorite is Ursala- I'll ALWAYS have her on my island/in my town, but that's not hard because I have her Amiibo. I didn't know about her before I got her Amiibo but I've loved her ever since :love:

Frankly, I'll never understand why she isn't the most popular sisterly villager.​
 
I actually have never and will never need to villager hunt because I have all the amiibo cards. but I have used the cards to scan in some mediocre villagers and invited them to move in :)
 
I never really care who moves to my island o uo;; if someone moves out and I happen to village hop just to see who I can find I'll typically settle on the first one I see that I like. I try to avoid the insanely popular villagers just because I like to see something new when I play my game that I don't see every time I hop onto twitter. (love marshal and raymond but I would get really tired of having them on my island and also seeing them online every time i looked at other towns. kind of like how sometimes you just need a break from seeing certain people lol)

I recently got Hornsby from hopping and had no idea so many people liked him!
 
Raymond and Sherb are both dreamies of mine and they’re popular; traded for Raymond and found Sherb on a mystery island. Rosie, Marshal, Ankha are also my dreamies who I think were fairly popular at least in NL. I found Rosie on a mystery island but haven’t found Marshal and Ankha yet.

I honestly don’t know who is popular aside from Raymond and Judy, same back in NL since I have always never been interested in popularity and whether or not my favorite villagers were popular. I passed on Dom and I’m pretty sure I passed on Sherb before he grew on me. I like villagers based on design, personality and/or time spent bonding with them. I admit some villagers grew on me because I liked a lot of the positivity and pictures posted of the villager, like Sherb :D. I also admit that I sometimes do not care about or pay as much attention to some villagers as I do with other villagers, which is why I really love hearing about people’s own experiences even with villagers whose design I initially was not impressed with or even disliked, along with pictures.

My other dreamies are Punchy, Kiki, Merry, Roscoe, Lolly (never had her but really want), Rudy (another new one and was my starter; kicked him and his bad starter [ware]house with amiibo and reinvited him right away).

I invited Punchy, Kiki, Roscoe with an amiibo card which I regret since it took away some of the fun that comes with meeting new villagers as well as finding my faves on a mystery island or as a random move in. I found Merry on a mystery island but kicked my original Merry out to reinvite with her card because she would not get rid of a black bass in her house that I gave her and regretted giving her.

Lily was one of my first four villagers and I found her on a mystery island thinking she would be only temporary but later she grew on me, which is why it is going to be tough to let her go.

My other favorites that I’m not sure if they’re dreamies or not are: Puddles - my best girl villager friend in NL, Lily - I think I like Lily now even more than Puddles though sadly I am going to let her leave for Lolly (and she still has starter house that I’m not a fan of), Gaston - initially didn’t like him in NL but I am happy to say he grew on me so much (I guess he can be considered a dreamie but not as high as the cats on my list).

I could go on about villagers I like and would like to have even temporarily, but I’ll stop here since I’ll never stop babbling if I continue lol.

I haven't yet, but I will soon, as I really want to find Shari as soon as my next villager moves out.

I would have gone hunting for Teddy, Cranston, and O'Hare, but I was lucky enough to get Teddy as one of my starting villagers, and both Cranston and O'Hare via the campsite.
 
When I found out about Derwin having the same birthday as me, he instantly became my all-time favourite villager and number one dreamie. I knew I wanted him. But I didn’t wanna hunt for him, so I just got his amiibo card. Next time somebody asks to leave (preferably Tank or Savannah) I’ll go hunt for some more dreamies (Octavian, Alfonso, Static, Anicotti, Pompom and much more).
 
If I like them and want them I will look for them. I wanted Sandy I got Sandy. Popular/Unpopular is just something the online community uses and actually varies sometimes depending on which site you are on. Talking to people who play but don't use sites like Nookzon or this one they really don't seem care. Popular/Unpopular really should not been taken seriously because a good chunk of the AC fandom doesn't even talk seriously about the game whether they are just too young or honesty just dont care about it.

If it's a villager you like chances are there are people who like them you just don't interact with them :) ! Also I won't use Dream Suite isn't a good judge either as it's play to use and some people are really don't want to upload their islands unless they are "complete"
 
I have/had quite a few average/unpopular villagers. I insisted upon paying 170k for Cyrano, I also bought Antonio, and Olaf. Bea is one of them who is average, she is lovely. I also have a few unpopular/more average dreamies - Cole (who I obtained today!) Benjamin, Colton, Tex, Norma, etc. My dreamies list is in my signature!
