Do you or will you ever hunt for for avaragely popular or unpopular villagers?

I want to know if you have dreamies or have for dreamies that aren’t very popular. I would like to see people find a mouse and invite them over, though anyone who isn’t very well loved who you added to your island is allowed here.

I've definitely searched for villagers that aren't the most popular, or at least have taken them when I stumbled across them. Bones and Deidre come to mind! I have a few popular villagers, and a few underrated/less popular villagers. I always feel bad for the unpopular characters and want to take them home!

I went on a massive hunt for Barold. After not finding him, I tried posting looking for in the villager trades...and after a day or so without replies, I was kind of getting desperate and I researched how to create amiibos and actually created his amiibo
So I finally have him.

As a general rule I don't actively seek out specific villagers. I'm not terribly picky over appearances. I often find the villagers other people consider "ugly" have the most character.

I absolutely do. Most times I don't even hunt for 1 villager. I just go until I'm attracted to someone

I'm not actively hunting for them on the island since I'm cycling. I have a limit of 30 tickets to find someone when someone moves out and I just take whoever I think looks cool or cute. I am bias towards certain species. The two I'll never let leave if I come across them is Cranston and Tank. Tank I had before and I love him but I never had Cranston so we shall see.

I have a list of favorite villagers that i am looking for and half of them are not popular. I never went out of my way to look for and invite a villager just because they are popular or whatever.

I definitely have searched for unpopular villagers as some of them I just really like regardless of their popularity. For instance, I searched for Graham while his amiibo was actually coming in the mail (I found him on an island before the amiibo arrived haha)

I only hunt for villagers that I like and want on my island, being popular or unpopular doesn't change a thing !
I have passed on Fauna, Beau, Judy, Dom, Julian.... So yeah it's not a criteria for me

I already have all of my dreamies, but back when I still went to mystery islands, I didn't know much about who is or isn't popular and just invited who ever I liked and later determined my dreamies based on lists on the internet. Most of the ones I love are far from being top tier, only exceptions being Lucky and perhaps Cherry. In my opinion, popularity is a weird factor to consider whether a villager is worth having or not.

I don't really hunt for any villager anymore. I just don't have the patience where you have to talk to the dodos every single time, and can't just hop from one to the next. I just use the New Neighbor Network forum, yo get what you want immediately. Instant satisfaction all the way!

I have a list of 84 villagers whom I'd like to have on my island someday. It helps a lot with not being too picky on Mystery Island tours (I limit myself to 20-30 tickets per search, since it can be so time-consuming). To my knowledge, my list contains both highly popular and less popular villagers, so I'd say that I don't consciously concern myself with villager popularity as a decision factor.

I try not to search only for one or even 5 villagers. I have a short list and long list of villagers of interest. I’m not super familiar with the popularity lists and tend to think villagers are more popular than they are, but most of who I’m looking for are lower tier (which makes sense because those lists are longer). Currently some of the villagers on the short list (more preferred): Agnes, Tabby, Ursala, Bertha, Rhonda (encountered her so much on early island hopping that I am now attached to her), Soleil, Biff, Freckles, and Willow. It’s not that I don’t like any popular villagers - I recently added Judy to the list, and tangy hops between the two. Long list has (meaning to name only a few - Kiki, Cranston, Paolo, Tipper, Lolly, Stella, Coco, and O’hare.

Edit: saw you asked for examples of who we invited and so - from mystery islands: Graham, Bangle, Cole, Ruby, Kabuki, Flurry, Rex (now moved away), Vesta (now moved away), Octavian (moved away).

Same with me. My short list consists of eight villagers on my dream list (I’ve found two so far) and my long list has a large amount (It has about 262, and I have gotten several of them, my most recent find being Olaf).

I don't really care about which villagers are popular or not, and it doesn't effect my decision on who I choose to search for. I determine it simply based on one qualification -- do I like them?

Some of the ones I like are popular, like Julian and Bob and maybe also Audie, but I think that those sorts are popular for a reason? But a lot of the other ones I like aren't really given much attention. I don't care. I like their designs and they are super cute to me! I don't ever understand when people like popular ones just because they're popular, it doesn't make much sense. To each his own though. And just like Julian and Bob, I think many of the ones that are popular are popular for a reason (that reason being their cute design, mainly), even if they don't particularly resonate with me.

i just picked my favs from a list of all of them lol

Interestingly, my list of dreamies had both unpopular and popular villagers, but I was able to find most of them with just a few NMT.

Now I have to find Shari, and I'm worried because searching for one specific villager seems impossibly hard. Also, because she's unpopular, I probably won't be able to find her for sale or to trade here. I might consider buying her amiibo if I can't get her another way.

I only have a general idea of which villagers are the most popular, so I never look for one just based on whether he/she is popular or not. I just look for villager that I think are cute and would suit my island theme.
