I just saw this:
It's about why your voice sounds different in recordings and I'm curious what other people thought about their own voices?

My voice sounds deep when I talk but when I hear it played back I sound like I'm 12 years old. :/ I've even stopped talking in the mic during TF2 because everyone thinks I'm a little kid even though I'm 22. :'(

This is a good question.
Hm, I always think I kinda sound whiny. But doesn't everyone?

I hate it :( I always manage to sound like a 4 year old who is just about to burst into tears...

As a matter of fact, I loaded up that video before getting distracted and logging onto TBT! haha xD

I'm ashamed in my voice, but as a voice actor (yes get over it), you're not really allowed to do that as part of your job. You need to work with what you have and change and adapt your voice in order to be successful. In the grand scheme of things, I have an advantage over most people in the business since I'm lingustic (I've done a French dub, albeit scripted, and a rant in Tagalog), have a British accent (in terms of flexibility I can do quite a lot with my voice), and have a middle tone voice with an undertone which really helps me.
Now, although that helps, I still hate my voice. I sound like I'm yelling all the time.

I'd leave a link to my demo reel but I've lost it, haha.

There's also a year old video of me doing a Minecraft video but it is forever lost within the realms of YouTube...

I was just thinking about this the other day, it makes me so uncomfortable that my voice is actually a lot higher than it sounds to my own ears. :<

That's horrible. Can you record your voice in Vocaroo and post it here?

My voice just sounds so terrible and I always want to apologize to everyone I've ever spoken to

I feel neutral about it; I like my voice the way I hear it, but I know it's not my actual voice. I prefer my voice in recordings less but I don't really care much. My voice isn't extraordinary so I guess my dream of dubbing animated movies will never come true... ;u;

I don't cringe at the sound of my recorded voice or anything, but it does sound completely alien to me anytime I hear it. It almost sounds closer to singing than to talking, so if that's how other people perceive it... I guess I'd be a weirdo who's always about to break into song. -_-

I actually quite like my voice in recordings, mainly because it is so funny. Like if you listen to me speak I sound like a 70 year old dude who has spent the last few decades chain smoking and gargling nails. It's just so out of place with my appearance.

If you want an aural representation of how I sound, Youtube a recent interview with Lindsay Lohan. I have that same deep raspy smoker voice, except with a standard Southern English accent.

I hate my voice. If I hear it I hate it and could faint and need jump starting

I like my voice. It obviously sounds a bit deeper than it truly is to me, but it's nowhere near high-pitched which I'm thankful for.
Doing an accent challenge / recording yourself speaking a set of questions or the like would be fun to do here.
