Or do you swap them out later on when you've caught a Pokemon that you like better?

Personally, I always keep my starter. It would just feel wrong not to ;-; And I usually take their type into account for that reason. If there's a Water type that I know I'm gonna want on my main team, I'm less likely to choose the Water starter because I don't want too much type overlap. Though overall, I lean towards the Water and Fire starters...I don't typically pick Grass.

The way I look at the games is terrible now. I've brainwashed myself to thinking only numbers of how good a Pokemon's IVs are, the nature, etc. since I got into the competitive battling a little more. That needs to change. I store my starter Pokemon away now never to be used again.

Ah, see I never got into competitive battling so maybe that's why I keep mine. I'm not into competitive gaming in general, I just like a more chill and lighthearted experience. (Maybe that's also why I don't like Smash very much :P )

IDK, I've only played 2 games so far. and in X I kept my starter till ORAS, and transfered my poke & his team over. I also didn't keep my starter in ORAS, obviously cause I transferred my team over.
I'm replaying X and I didn't keep my starter this time.

I keep mine. When I was a kid, it was because it was about 20 levels higher than everything else and the rest of my team was 20 levels LOWER, hahaha... Now I just keep it because I like it and build my team around its types so as not to overlap too badly.

Only time I don't use my starter is if I'm in a gym they are weak to. Like I won't bring a fire starter into a rock or water gym for example. The rest of the time, my starter is with me until I best the elite 4.

I can never bring myself to ditch a starter, even if I planned to lol. If Z happens, I'm really gonna try, because I won't pick Chespin again and I'm not that fond of Delphox or Greninja right now. If they switch up the 2nd set of starters to Gen 2 or 4..I may struggle to ignore them.

I always ditch my starters. I breed teams on the other games to use. The only exception is the first run of a new generation where I can't trade anything yet.

I'll only keep them if I really like them. I didn't care for X/Y, HG/SS, and OR/AS starters so I ditched all of them. Empoleon, Venusaur, and any of the gen 5 starters i'll keep.

I've always kept my starters from Ruby to Omega Ruby. They usually have fairly good stats compared to many catchables, so I just build them into my team and they take the place of their respective element. That said, the starters in White 2 never inspired me, so if I ever get back to playing it, once I get another decent Pokemon of their type, they'll probably be removed from my team and hidden in a box never to be seen again.

Yes, I did this in Pok?mon Yellow. Pikachu ended up being double the level of the rest of my team. oops

I don't keep the starter Pok?mon much anymore. Unless it is Charmander. :)

When I played LeafGreen as a kid, by the time I got to the League, my Blastoise was LV 90 and my others were LV 30...

It depends on how I feel on a certain run. If there's a starter I haven't used in a while or at all, then yes, I will incorporate it into my team. However, if I've used every starter from that game too much, or if I genuinely don't feel like using it, I'll ditch it in favour of something I do feel like using.

I always keep them. It just feels wrong to get rid of them, as well as the fact that I try and take their typings into account (like if I have Tepig, I would avoid catching another fire or fighting type) have

Through every Pokemon game I've had I have always kept my starters no matter what.. I guess I just never really thought of getting rid of them as a possibility
