Do you have a theme?

my theme is ~gothic baroque~ with a vampiric twist,
I'm building up a close-knit town around the airport and town hall in the lower third of my island, and then terraforming the rest of the land into mountains covered with pine forests & hidden secrets, I plan to place my other player character's home in the midst of the mountains, she will be a VAMPIRE

Sadly, I'm kinda relying on nintendo to add the rococo set back in atm :(

yeah I fell into the cottagecore trap lol, with mixtures of fairycore and oldschool RPG and JPRG elements thrown in. It's an aesthetic that resonates with me so I decided to go for it, as I'm from a small town and I love nature above everything else. Foresty, rustic, traditional, overgrown, rural and fantasy/magic are my main themes. I quite like how it's going so far!

Mine is a woodland/fairytale theme. It's heavily forested and terraformed. When I get a second island, I think plan on making it a slightly more developed sister island. It would have a similar aesthetic, but more shops and outdoor cafes, I think.

YES!!
Almost everything I accomplished til now, followed my main theme!
My island name is Salem and the main theme is witches, magic, autumn vibes, esoterism!
Tune island is This is Halloween!
My map is very WILD, I wanted it to resemble a sort of old village, lots of trees, working on a magic forest rn!
I also wanted to have a bit of ACWW vibe, I'm not really into the city maps with roads, neighborhoods, ac needs to be a place that can't be reached so easily in real life.
Every villager house is a bit haunted, a bit spooky! Finished my museum today and I decided to give it a sort of vodoo vibe, skulls, Bamboo, weeds, stones and statues!! (can still improved).
Really happy with what I'm pulling out!!

I don’t really have a theme for my island. The idea currently in my mind is a mushroom forest theme, in particular one that is haunted/slowly becoming cursed. The community spirit of the villagers stops things from going completely haywire, but the cursed side, the island makes it clear it didn’t expect nor did it want visitors, let alone residents. So I guess a sentient island a la Monster House movie?

But like many ideas I get, I feel like it would be impossible to fully implement(or in the case of the mushroom items, I’d have to wait months just to obtain them). So I end up not doing anything with it. Maybe the magical mushroom forest theme can work, but I don’t know about anything else.

(Madoka Magica island sounds really cool OP! The labyrinths, witches and characters...it would be great to see~ Though yeah, I see how it’s hard without sweet themed items for one witch...sweet items soon Nintendo? Please? This island needs to be)

I really like the cottagecore themes I see on twitter and I’d say that’s probably my main inspiration for my own island theme! I love rustic woodland/natural items/placements and paths and feel like it really helps me be ‘cosy’ in my town. I also like how laid back it is compared to other themes, where paths are placed so they’re more “naturally occurring” than perfectly lined up :)

Mimi: We're going with the general system aesthetic of alien/weird with some space, stars, or galaxies, although we still have a long way to go. We have various system members who've put personal touches around the island too though and I think some of us have sort of claimed certain areas. Personally I'm going to make a cool beach area or maybe go for those "Florida tourist vibes" we're so familiar with

1) You basically just described what I was looking for so now I'm going to peel through those hashtags LMAO

2) I LOVE MADOKA MAGICA!!!!! I would love to see how you bring it together!

I also really like the idea of a rural Asian village... with rice paddies and strawberries and happy neighbors :')

Not really. I'm aiming for a more natural/seaside small town vibe, but it's not as obvious as some of the other islands I've seen that go all out with unique patterns etc.

Initially my island is Sonic-themed but honestly I veered from that path alittle and it looks more like a general forest/woods/tropical island now.

If I ever reset/get another switch I wanna make a pastel/pink themed town. With only pink villagers (Pinky gets in first because obviously) in it. That'd be cute.
I was actually planning on making a little sega center somewhere in my town. I wish there was a claw machine item but I guess arcade cabs will have to do for now

I've struggled a lot with themes, since in order to get really motivated I like having goals and an idea of how I want things to look but not having a full catalogue to choose from and the mystery of future updates means everything is always in flux. Even this past week I revamped half of my island, but some parts have stayed the same.

My original idea (and still clinging to it somewhat) was to theme Aventura around an island amusement park and resort, so rides and carnival activities meet beachy resort amenities. The more I played, though, I realized there wasn't a ton of furniture to fit the theme park feel to max out the whole island, so there's really just a few sections right now that feel that way. I have a boardwalk and arcade, stalls for carnival games, and a Teacup Ride, lol. Wish there were more rides!

About a week ago I decided I wanted to try incorporating a more strict "color" aesthetic so I started turning the main amusement area into a goth/monochrome layout. Black & White tire toys, exercise balls, gray cobblestone and fences, black diner sofa, etc. I'm also planning to put more monochrome villagers and houses here (Antonio & Agnes) while I want to put Stitches in the arcade area. Tia currently has a little cafe area over by RS, and Piper will get a sizeable park as her front yard.

However I still wanted to incorporate pieces of natural, witchy elements since that's my favorite aesthetic. My RR's house functions as a sort of haunted house in a forest near a cemetery up on the cliffs. On the path there is a stargazing spot, and I wanted Julian & Judy up here as well as like, permanent stargazers, kind of magical theming. Looking forward to decorating with starry furniture outside. Then I have a pretty standard cobblestone shopping area and a somewhat hidden bridge leading to my partner's house, soon to be the beach resort area featuring pool, juice bar, and restaurant.

tldr: current theme - monochromatic semi-goth theme park but also tropical resort and by the way there's also a witch that lives on a celestial-themed hill

The closest I have to a theme would probably be minimalist. I hate clutter. I have a waterfall entrance but other than that my terraforming is very basic - straight rivers, everything is accessible without a ladder or vaulting pole, etc.

Honestly I don't have a specific "theme" in mind other than a little on the rustic side since my town in New Leaf was very modern and I wanted to try something differenr. Lots of flowers and trees, less modern objects and more natural things, stuff like that. I think we have a nice balance so far.

I'm trying to stick to a "traditional japanese" island with a flock of 10 ostriches. Nothing super original but i really like the theme and the game is really filled with oriental items and for some reason i rarely seen Japanese themed island, just some "zen garden" but mostly natural/white/pink islands.

And this is my actual inspiration map that i created:

And what i've done in my island:
I need to build various areas, here some examples: teahouse garden, zen garden, circular islands, market with fish and fruit, lake with hop"rock" paths, flowers garden etc...

I don't know how long it will take, i'm really slow in building and terraforming. :C
