Do you get attached to your villagers?

Yes I get very attached to my villagers. :D But... I have to admit it's mostly due to the memories I have in Wild World, the dialogue in New Leaf is pretty repetitive sadly :/

Some I did, and some I didn't. But the ones I have right now are for staying forever, not going to keep rolling.
So yes, I'm extremely attached to them!

Sometimes, yeah. It usually happens with the villagers that I disliked a lot in the beginning.
I don't know why, but they somehow get into my heart >->

Nope. Well some good times playing with some of them i used to have in my very first town.

Erik, Drago, Apollo... Good times.

It's been only a week since I started my adventure in Leaf, and it's my first AC adventure.

But of course I'm attached to my villagers.

That's why this video really upset me:

Why would anyone want to do something as horrific as this!? This is horrible! I could never and would never do this to my villagers and my town! People who do that are messed up! 😧😭

I understand how the video could elicit that response, but I don't think there's anything wrong with deleting one's town. Everyone plays the game differently. While some people may choose to become very immersed in the game and develop deep emotional connections to their villagers, other people consciously choose to view it as just a video game. I'd kindly suggest not referring to people who play differently as messed up.

Watching that video, I think the old dialogue about deleting a town/villagers was actually emotionally manipulative in a harmful way (trying to make the player feel bad/guilty for deleting their town), which is why they toned it down in New Horizons.

I definitely get attached. I had an all dog town in New Leaf. I got attached to most of the villagers, namely Mac and Goldie. I didn’t like the fact that villagers could just pack up and leave though. I’m glad they fixed that in New Horizons. Not to say it was broken, but it was definitely annoying. I prefer not having to worry about villagers leaving.

There’s definitely nothing wrong with deleting a town. The dialogue in previous games was quite intense and seriously manipulative. It’s not fair to say these people are messed up, although the dialogue in that video seems to make you want to think so. I’m glad they toned it down in New Horizons. With that being said, people are free to play Animal Crossing the way they please.

Some villagers I find myself getting attached to, usually they’re the villagers that I’ve liked the look off and want to keep in my town for a bit to get to know and hopefully get the photo from but not keep permanently but I usually then find it very hard to let them go. I really like all my current villagers in my town but there are other villagers I like too that I’d like to move in but whenever a current one asks to leave I always find myself refusing the request.

The only reason I don't play NL much anymore is because I know that one of them will have moved out, and I love them too much for that to happen. I pretty much stopped playing after I took a break from the game, and I only returned by moving the clock back by about 2 years, just to be sure no one moved out.

I definitely got attached to my villagers more in NL than In NH. There were some I didn’t like; some I think I didn’t like because I wanted someone else and them to move but they would take their time to leave. Then there were others I didn’t like because of their design. I didn’t like Gaston’s design at first yet he ended up being a favorite that I kept (i think though there is a good chance he and my other villagers left by now 😭). I didn’t think I’d like Puddles either since she is all pink, but she ended up being one of my BFFS in NL :).

I am definitely attached to my villagers I miss them :( I have been meaning to go back and check on my town and play a bit I miss Ed so much :( we were super close plus its our bdays soon and we always celebrate together

If you want to stop playing for a while, there's a trick to making sure nobody moves out! If a villager runs up to you talking about moving away, and you stop them, then you can stop playing as long as you'd like. Once you save and quit that day, until the next time you open the game, nobody will have moved :)

Aaaah thank you for this! I think I'll try this out soon. I'd love to continue playing at the actual date instead of 2005 😅
