That maybe this forum has made everyone rlly money hungry? Haha
i remember on jvgs old trading forum (when there was one) villagers going for no more than one million bells. Don't get me wrong, i respect the hustle and i ask for a lot for my villagers now too, but i wish things were cheaper, it'd save me a buttload of hard work lol.

I actually never knew how much villagers were worth until I joined Animal Crossing sites. When I found out that villagers go for so much, I'm just like "whaaaaat? This is madness." But yes, sometimes I wish they were a little cheaper because I'm broke in the game. But luckily, this community offers tbt so it's easier for me to obtain dreamies. I can focus more on getting igb for public work projects and expansions lol. And I also bought another copy for cycling (to get that $$$ xD) which I'll eventually turn into my second town if I ever finish my main town.

That's exactly what i did! I bought a new cartridge to make a new town and turned my main one into a cycling town bc it was basically finished
On tumblr the prices are a lot different though, thats what made me post this. I have Molly in my cycling town and she's tier 1 on here and when I posted on tumblr someone offered me 500k and the greedy part of me didn't reply ;w;

I used to use that trading forum too, and I will admit things were much more simple on that forum. When I used to use it, I used to think 1 million bells for a villager was a lot ahaha. I remember how easy it was to ask for villagers sometimes, because you just had to be the first to ask for that villager. I think it's fine that people want to make a profit, as long as its reasonable. Personally, if say somebody's selling a tier 1 for 20 mil i'd find that a little overpriced no matter how popular they are. Even if the villager was one of my most wanted I probably wouldn't buy them. Since the villager could move out at any time, at least villager prices for tier 1s are a little cheaper now, I remember Julian going for 20 mil one time as buyout and he actually sold for that price.

It's crazy to see how different villagers are worth in different platforms. I'm just happy to have found this place. I've only ever joined Instagram and Animal Crossing Community (but forgot my passwords for both whoops). I've never had a tumblr for animal crossing though.

I think it ultimately depends on the player. I never charge for villagers, be they tier one all the way to five. I am just happy to find a happy new home for someone when they are leaving one of my towns. That said, yes I believe there are players who price gouge due to tier ratings. I simply don't buy from them. I would rather wait for the villager I am seeking to appear elsewhere than fall victim to someone who I feel is ripping me off just because they can.

Collectibles and art might have to do with it, considering ever since rare/expensive collectibles were released and people began selling nice art, everyone on here tends to do literally anything for TBT. Those who collect IGB from whatever, raised the price since they were desperate to sell their IGB for TBT. Since the conversion rate inflated, every other price on here changed accordingly. Now, 1m IGB is just loose change and everyone is 'rich' in that sense on here. Which means.... overall prices are up, and greed is up too.

That's my theory on why it happened, at least.

Yeah! You can find the Animal Crossing community under the hashtag "acnl" or "animal crossing". There's plenty of Animal Crossing users on there~
