completely start over? Let go of all the bells, flowers, and items you've collected.
Destroy all the PwP's and unlocked shops.

Just have a clean slate to build everything back up again.

I have two copies of the game, one that's not yet developed and basically is a 'clean slate' already. But my main town... I keep getting this desire to completely start over. The only thing stopping me is the immense amount of bells/items/bush starts I've collected. I'd really hate to lose all of that (I know I could ask someone to hold onto them for me, or even borrow my sister's 3DS to store the items in my second town, but there's just so many!) I decided to redo the entire town as it is, but in working on it I'm finding the layout less satisfying than it used to be.

Do you ever get this feeling? Would you ever let go of all that hard work just to put in the effort all over again?

As a serial resetter, heeeell naaw! It took me so freaking long just to settle on a town, I pretty much blew a year on restarts. I'm finally experiencing Gracie's fashion checks and 3 fossils from completing the museum a year and a half from the day I bought the game. :P

I reset compulsively (I think I've had around 10 towns now?) so I almost always want to reset, lol.

I did it all the time on ACWW, so I do get the urge to restart sometimes...but I won't. There wasn't much to do in Wild World and restarting wasn't a big deal. I've put a lot more time and effort into this game. I may not have fancy paths like some people do, but I like my town a lot. (I put a path down once, but I didn't like it. The way houses, buildings, and bridges are placed makes paths look odd.)

it has happened so many times ever since i got the game. i can't get further than 20 days into the game without resetting and urgh i hate doing it but i keep having the thought that "this town is the one, you won't reset this time" but i always do.
hoping that my town that i reset two days ago is the one

yes! in all honesty I don't like my town map.. it's really boring and I have a really hard time landscaping my town because of it... also I hate my camp and police station placement hahah I was really dumb when I started out... but.. I have like 9/10 dreamies obtained and lots of bells and rare items so its really hard for me to reset asdgdfgsfhfd

I currently have Gracie's fashion checks, too, which is another reason I'm so hesitant to consider resetting (despite how badly I want to). I reset so many times before I settled on my current town, which I chose strictly for some key features (like the town fruit, waterfall placement, town square placement, etc.)

Me too! I don't even want to consider how many towns I've gone through. x_x

That's what is most important, I think, how much you enjoy your town (: I didn't get to play WW much, but I played CF and restarted constantly. I guess having so much to do in NL makes me want to strive for perfection (or at least the exact vision I want for my town).

Sometimes I'd start off with a town and think "Yes, this is it." But then further down the road that initial certainty would fade and I'd reset. I think you need to be 110% happy with the end result and should never settle for less. I think that, at least, has been my biggest problem. I'll find something in a town I don't like, but tell myself to keep it anyway.

Literally my issue at the moment. There are a few things about my map that I like, but the things I dislike are far more notable and irritating. My campsite was placed in an awful spot, because I didn't plan it out properly, and at this point I'm feeling very overwhelmed and at a loss for what to do overall. I don't mind so much losing the shop upgrades and the Gracie's Fashion Checks, I can be very patient with those, but all of those bells and items and flowers and saplings and bush starts... Not to mention all of my mushrooms that have spawned, which I will keep forever because they're so cute. I only have two of my dreamies, but one of them is also in my second town and he's my favorite of the two, so I could easily get him back if needed.

Like I said before, though, I think ultimately if you're not happy with your town, do what you can to make yourself happy, even if it means resetting! I might try to organize the things I absolutely 100% want to keep, see how many I have, and consider enlisting the aid of my sister to hold onto my items while I reset (or to at least let me borrow her 3ds so my second town can hold onto them).

Yeah. I really love all of the villagers I have now and I can't imagine myself letting any of them go and that's the problem since I'd really love to get some new villagers and such, not to mention a new layout and maybe even a town theme would be awesome.
I've already gone through a full year of the game and I've done so much though so I can't see myself resetting anytime soon, but I'll probably end up buying a second game.

I'm getting close to my town being a year old, but even so there's so much I haven't done. I've spent most of the time collecting things, honestly. I have a second copy of the game and would recommend getting one, but my current use for it isn't suitable for me to put in the effort to make it a new and beautiful town. There's something about starting all over that really appeals to me, despite the efforts I've put in. I might do it, assuming I can manage to save some items and bells to transfer over once I do. If anything, all the time I've spent playing (which honestly as of late I haven't played in a good two months) has helped me decide what I like and dislike in a town layout and how to better plan out any future towns I work on.

I would NEVER want to start over. At this point, I have put waaaaay too much effort into this game D:

cataloging is high up on my goals & I have a lot of that done
I'm working on building my town RN
I'm afraid that when I get all the villagers I want & build my town how i want it, I won't have any goals left
so I might have to reset or get a new copy :|

I would never reset my town but I have a second cartridge so I can make a new town on 1/1/2015. I'm looking forward to starting the game from the beginning but I couldn't imagine deleting my current town - I'd miss my doggies way to much!

I've already decided I'm going to start over. I've never actually put too much effort or care into cataloging, so I'm not worried about that. Starting over- especially at the start of the new year- gives me a huge sense of relief. There's a lot I should have done at the very beginning to help me out later on that I didn't.

Also, Tolisamarie, I like how all of your villager's homes are lined up! That's super neat!

I feel like this a lot, I also have two game cards and one is not very developed but my main I've put soooo much work into I think I'll just work around to fix it up cause resetting it after a year and half would kill me haha

I used to with previous towns because there would be something off in the map or PWP placements... But this town? Heck to the no! The last thing I want to do is reset, I tend to take my time very slowly so it has taken me a LONG time (about a year) just to put down paths and unlock the T&T Emporium... I don't even have shrubs or flowers or trees or anything right now. If I reset, I would have to go through that all over again... *shudders*

All the time! I'm kind of a perfectionist. Whenever I see towns with nice themes that are better than mine, I get the resetting urge and usually can't help myself. o n o It's hard for me not to compare my towns to others, even if I've had my town for a month and some person has had their gorgeous town for over a year. I like the change though. Working for everything all over again is one of my favorite things to do in Animal Crossing! ( ?∀`)

I just reset my town two days ago. It was really hard tbh, throwing away my town that I played obsessively for a year. There wasn't that much left to do on it, but it was still nice looking at my accomplishments.
But I have to say, the feeling of starting over with a new face and a new town layout and a new town fruit...it's just awesome. I'm looking forward to making this town even better than my previous town. :)

it helps me to know that I see my town every single day and I go to a dream town once or twice. They have flaws too, they're just less apparent to you and I. I've been using dream towns as inspiration to see what they do with their rocks & weird areas. Got some good ideas from it.

There's no such thing as perfection in animal crossing. You can reset all you want, but there is ALWAYS going to be something you don't like. you just have to roll with it or find a way to work around it.
I think a lot of the serial resetters have a very perfectionistic personality. I know I do!

I only reset once, about two weeks after I got the game, because I couldn't STAND my map and I didn't want to put in effort when I hated it. I got the map I wanted in only two tries and I have no plans to reset after all the hard work I've put into my town. I was just thinking yesterday how much I loved my town too. If anything I'd rather get a second copy of the game.
