Do you enjoy Island hopping?

I never really go island hopping. I used to go tarantula farming but that got unbearable once the water bugs were introduced. So around April (iirc) I stopped going there. I only went island hopping once time since to get a new villager to replace Rocket, who was moving out. I think i went a maximum or 4 to 6 times before finding Reneigh. Then I haven't been island hopping since. But Snooty is moving away, so tomorrow I will island hop once again, but I'm not really picky with villagers in New Horizons. I just need a replacement Snooty, so I don't think I'll be hoping for too long. Then I won't do it again for a looong time hehe.

I enjoy it but it is tedious , yesterday I ran into Snake then 2 islands later snake again? Lol. I got Dom on my 55th NMT :)

previously found Audie on 45th NMT
Megan on 27th NMT
Reneigh on 9th NMT (all seperate island hops)

just Raymond, Judy, Sherb (I have him but I gave him bugs and stuff so I’m letting him go to find a fresh house lol - lesson learned) and Cyd to go!

Yah, the back to back is annoying. Out of all of the possible villagers, getting the same exact one within 1-3 mystery island makes me think the generator is broken, haha.

You know every single time I’ve been island hopping (10 times so far) I’ve come across tipper and Naomi everytime (sometimes more than once) .. i think the game is trying to tell me I NEED a snooty cow in my life but I don’t agree 🤣

The rush of finding a dreamie on an island was amazing, but nothing makes me feel worse in this game than going island hopping and having repeat villagers over and over. Theres a list of maybe 10 villagers who i've seen upwards of 4 times each, yet theres countless other villagers i havent seen once.

I like island hopping because I really enjoy the randomness! I don’t look for anyone specific though. It’s a perfect balance of random and getting to choose. :)

I do find it gets tedious after a while though and I only go for the materials on the first 5 or so islands. Last time I even found a money rock island and foreign fruit island and just didn’t bother haha.

I don’t think ever spent more than 25 tickets. 🤔

In the beginning it was really fun. I'm new to AC and hardly knew any villagers, so the surprise effect made it interesting. Since I've looked up lists to figure out who I would want on my island in the long run, no villager is really that "new" anymore. I may not have met them in person, but I've seen them somewhere, so there isn't this moment of "Hello, who are you, I've never seen you, you are so cute/pretty/interesting, I need you to live on my island!" In that regard, I regret having looked up all of the villagers. I think with specific dreamies in mind, it can be very frustrating, although I happened to be extremely lucky finding two of the very few I knew and wanted pretty early on.
At this point I have all of my dreamies and the only ressource I'm constantly low on is stone, which is very rare on Mystery Islands, so there is really no point for me to visit them anymore.

I went island hopping three times and that's it. I only had one goal in mind: Meet new faces until I find the villager that I want to move into my island. That's how I got Gruff, Bea, and Queenie. If I had a goal to get a dreamie, that would be a different story. I would end up being very frustrated and not have fun at all trying to find that one villager I want. I somehow lucked out getting Gruff because he's in my New Leaf town lol.

I'll find out tomorrow. I finally had a villager ping to leave, and will get a chance to try my luck. I've got no particular villager in mind, except not Pietro. Clowns are scary.

I think it's fun. But I usually go in without much expectations. When I was island hopping, I just wanted to find someone who was cute and that they had a personality I was missing. When I increased my expectations to snooty or uchi villagers who I would consider inviting, it took me longer to find someone and that was a little more frustrating.

i find it to be fun, but its a lot more enjoyable if i have a free plot..i like meeting different villagers...even if i dont take them home

It’s something I like to do when I can’t do it but hate to do when I have to do it. Given this, I’ve had some pretty harrowing experiences with island hopping that I’ve sworn off it completely. Granted I did get lucky for my first three villagers, after that it was just absolute hell every single time. I’ve blown about a total of maybe 300-400k miles before swearing off of it. Every single time I island hopped like crazy for villagers (after the initial three), I ended up with 0 miles, 0 recruits and a random move in from hell. AND NO, I WASN'T EVEN LOOKING FOR DREAMIES ANY OF THOSE TIMES. I just wanted someone I could live with. But no. The islands gave me rats after rats after hippos after gorillas after anteaters after cows after cows after rats after cows. You catch my drift. It messed my island up so bad I wanted to restart (because of the random move ins from hell). I didn’t restart but I had to exceptionally break my no TT rule just to do the campsite method and fix all the mess that happened. After I fixed it and got decent villagers, I swore I’ll never let anybody leave ever again. Unless I get a camper I’d want more than someone in my town. Nobody’s leaving. I’m never going island hopping again.

I love island hopping! I have a list of villagers I want and I just love the adrenaline of not knowing who's going to be your next resident. Of course it can get exhausting but finding a villager you want is so rewarding.

I will admit that having every amiibo completely sucks out the fun of it for me. but the actual idea of it is super fun and the few times I have done it, I've been very excited to see if I could find one of the 8 non-amiibo villagers! (I've actually come across Megan, Cyd and Dom now)

but I definitely would never actually collect the resources or honestly even look for the diy bottle. I am just way too lazy for that and the whole point of nmt tours for me is the villagers lol. plus even just mashing through Orville and Wilbur's dialogue is tiring enough. you're a trooper for even attempting to collect all the resources haha
Ahh... wanna trade places?
lol... I'm still really happy that I got some of my favorite villagers in blind amiibo packs but wish I had every single one.

I got pretty lucky when I was Island hopping for my first 10 (got Sherb, Apple, Wolfgang, Octavian and Erik).
I sill wouldn't consider myself terribly unlucky yesterday as I came across a decent number of good villagers. I mostly wanted to get a replacement for a snooty or a jock so I guess having specific villagers in mind kind of messed it up for me because it was disappointing not to see the ones I wanted.
Plus the grind of it almost killed me. lol...

i appreciate you sharing your experience island hopping, i feel like a lot of people share extraordinary rng luck island-hopping adventures, but not so much the other side.

i enjoy watching others villager hunt, whether they share the data in spreadsheets or just on a chill stream. but i still wouldn't like doing it myself, largely because of the repetitive dialogue trees at the airport and also because i just prefer to trade for the exact villagers i want.
It's weird because I actually enjoy watching streams of people hunting for villagers so thought I'd find it super fun... but I guess it's a bit different when it comes down to your actual Island.

In the beginning, villager hunting was rather fun. But it gets fast very very quickly with all the dialogue, other villagers etc...

These days, I'll only go island hopping when I need more weeds, wood etc... i have an abundance of tickets so I just literally use them to chop wood. Only wood.

Only when I'm hunting for villagers, but other else than that it is just a complete waste of my time. 1 because I do not get interesting islands, 2 the spawn rates don't mean much when I can just use fish bait, and 3 the recipes and furniture I get are the ones I usually have.

I have all my villagers set, so the only reason I go now is if I've run low on resources. Even then, I rarely do it.

If I'm going to travel, I'd rather visit a friend.

It’s actually my favorite part. I really like the anticipation of seeing who I will find. And to be honest, if I don’t find who I’m looking for I don’t bother really doing much else on the island. I do chop down all the trees though for the golden axe diy. Other than that, I move along pretty quickly.

I have two more villagers I’d like to rotate out so I’m kind of sad that my island hopping days are coming to an end. Unless I decide to let some of my forevers go, which I don’t think will be anytime soon.
