Do you choose villagers based on house exteriors?

No, but I decorate the outside of villager's houses by what their exterior looks like. (ex: Shep's exterior is blue and purple, so the outside of his house is blue and purple violets. The outside of Pudge's house is orange/yellow so his house is surrounded with yellow and orange roses.)

I choose partially based on exteriors. I have a themed town so I don't want to have any houses that flagrantly stick out.
I mean, I still mostly base my decision on the villager themselves, but house exterior certainly factors in.

I do! It's not the sole factor because I also want to have a group of neighbors I like, and I want to have all the personality types in my town. But the ugly effect of clashing, unappealing houses, versus the harmonious effect matching, appealing houses is enough to make their house exteriors a pretty important factor for me. :)

Personally, no. Don't really care about exteriors.... tho Rasher had really really ugly house exterior I didnt like it at all .___.

Recently I visited a dream town and the person really carefully chose the house exterior and house placement!
He/she nicely lined up a Blue house - pink house - blue house, (I think it was like Julians (blue), and someone other villagers that was pink..) and decorated blue/white flower then pink/white flowers... looked really nice.

I would go crazy while plot resetting if I wanted to do that tho xD...

I don't mind the exterior just as long as it doesn't look like a meth lab (static)

This sounds really amazing. o: Incredible attention to detail. Do you happen to remember which town/the Dream Address?

A friend of mine is planning on a star themed town. So she's going to only have villagers whose houses have star smoke.

Nope, but I have to admit, most villagers homes aren't that appealing on the exterior o: Most people prefer a villager by its look alone rather than the house, but some people want their furniture sets they own inside. I wish we could customize their houses to look nicer on the outside or more individually unique style ^^

Nope =/ The town name was in Japanese so I..can't...remember.... xD It was on thonky's dream address thingy...there's ton of addresses out there... xP

I actually considered choosing villagers like this but decided against it, since I notice the villagers that I talk to whenever I play the game far more than I do their houses. I do choose flowers to plant around their houses based on house colors, though.

Goodness no. That would take forever and the villagers might not even be pleasant to me. xP

Though I find Julian's and Phoebe's houses to be very aesthetically appealing, especially Phoebe's.

Well it seems like 80% of people don't care at all :3 I'm not saying it's my only factor, I wanted one of every villager type first, then I really liked Pecan and Marshal and felt I needed to add them as my last two, but my town theme is woodland, and so yes, a couple villagers in my lesser favorite personality types were chosen because their exterior matched more than the others xD And I ended up loving Teddy, but he was 90% chosen because his house exterior is beautiful imo

I don't though I can see why people would since some exteriors can look so different, so if you're going for a theme town I think it makes sense. In my case, the whole town has a general atmosphere I'm trying to capture but it's compatible with all kinds of houses so it doesn't matter. There's also the issue of it being harder to find pictures of exteriors, at least in my experience. I tend to care more about how their houses look inside and most of all, the design of that villager.

Nah. My town has no running theme, so I didn't really see the need. Thankfully most of my villagers have nice home exteriors, with the exception of Hazel, Ruby & Stinky.

I don't care about their house exterior, but i do care a little about the interior. I like nicely decorated homes like muffy's or marshals where they have a theme

The villagers themselves are much more important to me than their house exterior at this point in time, but I am very fresh to the game. I would find myself very distraught if I were making villager & plot placement decisions based on the exterior as I have a hard enough time getting my villagers to move where I want them as it is. Their cuteness just has to make up for their ugly houses if it comes down to it for me. Hopefully my opinion on that stays the same. Balancing the two sounds like a nightmare. D:
