Do you check the popularity of a Villager when choosing? That influence if he/she can come to your island?

Personally, no. I always choose basing in how cool i find his design. I always saw the Tier List more for selling purposes rather than choosing purposes.

Note: All answers/opinions are valid, even if you say yes. This thread is just for curiosity.

Yes and no. When I started playing NH I wanted to experience all the new villagers, especially Raymond, Audie, and Judy. Now I just invite whoever I think is cute and fits in well this my other villagers.

I only ever take villagers if I like their design and personality type. Sometimes I am tempted to take popular villagers just so I can get easy money though lol.

At the beginning, I kinda did a little, before I realized it's silly to care about it (for me it was, anyway). Especially when some of my taste in villagers often goes outside the norm.

Nah. Sometimes I check where my favorites fall on the tier list out of curiosity, but it doesn't influence who I do or don't pick, whether they're extremely popular or extremely unpopular.

Not at all. I invite villagers I like or haven’t had before.

Nope.I get villagers I like or villagers that I think I might eventually like.I've never looked at a tier list before acquiring any villager that I have.

When choosing my villagers I don’t base it at all on tier lists, and since my tastes often do not match up well with the popular rankings.

I do like looking at the tier lists, both the popularity tier list and people’s own personal tier lists, so I can see what other people think of the different villagers just because it is interesting to me - I am pretty obsessive about things, and I am deep into an obsession with acnh and the villagers in particular.

I don't care about the tier lists. I have favorites from every single tier and I don't care whether someone dislikes the design of some villager I like. I don't really interact with most people anyway, aside from friends and shopowners here on the forums either making a delivery to my island or having me go to their island to pick up items I purchased, so it's kind of a moot point. Even if that weren't the case though, I still wouldn't care about the tier lists and popularity since it's my game at the end of the day and my enjoyment of my copy of the game is the important thing.

I choose the residents of my games by either choosing villagers who best represent the theme for the town/island I've decided on or, occasionally but not too often, just throwing together a bunch of favorites without a theme. Even in the first example though with the choosing based around themes, I still try to prioritize villagers whose designs I like.

Nope! I chose villagers I personally like and don't really care about popular villagers. Honestly I'm not sure why the tiers even exist. Every villager is popular in a way, not just the "cute ones". Every villager is like Raymond in a way in the sense that people love and treat them with respect.

No. I would never want someone just because others want them.. I want them to fit into my theme and to personally like them. A lot of the popular villagers are very likeable though.. but f.ex I just don't like Marshall that much even though I think hes objectively super cute and popular... I also like some really unpopular villagers as well.

nope the tier lists dont matter to me. im happy to see and talk to my villagers so it doesnt bother me what other people think

Not at all. I like the villagers that I like and don't let any popularity/tier list influence my opinions on them nor whether or not I'd invite a certain villager to my island.

For me, never. I love all of the villagers and their unique designs. I always let the game decide who is moving in for me to make the whole thing a bit more fun. I generally don't sell any of my villagers unless I am cycling amiibos so the perceived 'value' of them does not impact me. I guess it just depends on your play style and what kind of designs you like. There is nothing wrong with enjoying trying to get top-tier villagers, its just not for me.

Not really, though I think I wouldn't be surprised is there was some kinda psychological influence on it. Like popular villagers we see a lot of images etc of, which makes us feel like we know them already before we get them and then hold onto them for longer. Not always of course.

No. I steer clear of tier lists. I simply invite whoever catches my fancy. I feel terribly shallow for saying this but the fact is, if I didn't like the way a villager looks to me, I wouldn't invite her even if she was the most popular one out there.

Tier lists do intrigue me. In the way quantum mechanics does. I don't understand them. If you forced me to come up with a tier list, even if it involved only the ones I've ever invited or liked, I won't survive the process. 😅

Not at all. At first, I wanted to try new villagers but even then I ultimately ended up with villagers I chose. I knew some had a higher popularity than others, but I didn't care for that. I wanted villagers that made my island experience more enjoyable.
