I agree I dont think pietro is that popular....maybe infamous is a better word haha
And I feel like merengue and the octopi are popular but definitely lower on the popularity list they dont feel as sought after this time around (esp since it seems octopi are super easy to encounter while island hopping)

kind of? some of them such as audie and raymond definitely belong on there but there’s a few on there that i don’t see mentioned very often and while they might be popular, i wouldn’t consider them one of the most popular villagers, if that makes sense
I'm probably going to replace Pietro with Zucker.

I never thought I'd see the day where Bob is popular. I remember people posting about him in New Leaf, saying he was life, he was love, and other people on this site hated him. Looks like it all worked out for him. As for the list, it looks pretty accurate, but I'd change some things on my own list.
I love Apollo. But this isn't just based on my personal favorites.
Same, but I also do think the villager from the movie are somewhat in an unique position. This is probably only true for hardcore players, but I think they're also more likely to go out of their way to watch the movie.
I chose Apollo because I personally adore him, but I also think he's the most suitable villager for his personality.
Otherwise rare species should be popular too, like the ocotopi.

Pretty/special gimmicks, are aesthetics people find more pleasing or cute, so it make sense a unicorn, an Egyptian mummy and pharaoh or pastel colors are more popular over a lime green bear. I love Julian, but without the horn, he will be an average horse to most and not that popular, change Marshal's expression and probably he will be just another squirrel. Design wise, some villagers get more love than others.
This is definitely a common occurrence. Pretty/special gimmicks do seem to attract fans. But we have to keep in mind that villagers like Fauna, Lolly, and Molly are all popular despite looking plain and natural.
