Do villagers remember you after they moved into other towns?

Im just curious, do villagers that moved out remember you? I heard some say they im not sure. I've never tried this out personally before so can anyone tell me if villagers will still remember you after they've moved?

Yes! I had Lolly move into a friend's town once, and she remembered me.

yes! even if you've cycled out enough villagers to have them move back in, that specific villager will still remember you if you talk to them! although, i'm not sure if they'll remember living in your town.

Yes they remember you and other mayors/players that visited the old town they lived in.
Peggy moved from my guest town to my spare town. The main town mayor dropped by for a petition. She knew the mayor and said she moved to this town.
