i've been noticing they don't display the wall items gifted (apart from door decor)
Do villagers not display wall items anymore?

Ah, that explains why Filbert didn't put the space mobile up that I gave him. Shame, because it would have gone perfectly in his house.
nope. it actually makes it so that wall furniture is the best thing to give to the villagers to increase their friendship. 
they'll never put it up so it never marks that they own the item. so you can just gift them the same thing over and over again.
i cycle between hanging terrariums and iron wall lamps. both sell for over 2500 so i'm guaranteed an item back. i cycled my villagers around since i wanted them to have their nice houses so i had to restart on many friendship ratings. so far so good though got 5/10 photos these last couple of weeks.

this is exactly why i asked as well hahaha sometimes when i already gifted too many things, they just rotate the furni that's already in their house & it would make it so messy. now that they don't display, this does seem like a perfect gift for them now. especially when it's a preferred color/style. i used to gift a lot of wallpaper on new leaf lol.

right? and i always have stack and stack of iron+clay so it won't be problem. i just wish we can customize with more colors, so it'll be their favorite color instead.

i gifted gifts that are worth more then 70k though and never got a gift in return! weird
