Do traded villagers in NH maintain the house interior from their previous island?

I have a villager I want to give away since I started with them and they have a very generic DIY-based house.
If someone takes them, will their house's furniture, wallpaper, and flooring revert to its default layout?

I remember in New Leaf you could ruin the originality of a villager's house by giving them a fish or a bug, and it would remain that way even when they moved away to someone else's town.

Is this still the case in New Horizons?

After a lot of searching, it seems that starters will change to their normal house if you trade them!
