in new leaf in city folk that was a bad idea considering brick seeds..
But yeah I don't see people doing it very often and I don't know if it's too good of an idea anyways
I forgot this was a thing. I did this back in Wild World in case any of my friends wanted to randomly stop by. I don't do this though and I pretty much never use WiFi on NH to be honest.
I remember it was definitely a thing with Wild World, but it has died down starting with New Leaf, and probably more so in New Horizons.
Before, there wasn't much to do offline vs online. So it didn't hurt to have guests over to chat with. And now, opening your gates stops you from doing things like Terraforming, and once someone enters, you are restricted from even moving furniture because it's seen as "rude".
I don't think that's a thing with New Horizon. I think that was only a thing with NewLeaf? And maybe earlier games, but I remember people on here and gamefaqs would leave their game open for people to come in for their turnip prices or whatever, but would be afk. I don't think I would be able to do that for a full 24 hours without disconnecting. I also wouldn't trust anyone to just waltz into my town and then come back to a deforested, holey, trash-ridden town. I like that they restricted such invasive actions to only best friends in NH.
