Hi! I haven't played this game in a year; and was wondering if there were still some types of hybrids that were hard to get. I'm thinking of handing them out again on Tortimer Island during Christmas Eve/Christmas.
Blue roses get lots of posts and threads here on the forum.
I don't think there's anything wrong with handing out some hybrids that are easier to breed. Some players may be new or very young and don't understand the mechanics behind getting hybrids.
I always seem to have trouble, only because I can only play on the weekends (ugh, school). So that means I can never really water flowers /;n;
However, I've heard that planting diagonally will give hybrids a better chance of showing up, although I'm not sure if it's true. And I only got my few blue roses/pansies by accident. (Usually I don't focus much on hard-to-breed hybrids until most of my town is landscaped, hehe.)
Good luck!~ ; v ;
A lot of hybrids are difficult to obtain just from normal flowers, like the blue rose, but super easy to grow more of once you have a pair. Just by watering a bunch of blue roses in a diagonal I can easily get up to 5 a day. Some of them are the opposite, like I figured out red and white cosmos put together will only breed pink.
I have trouble getting red rose hybrids to grow blue ones.
Otherwise, I got my black ones and they're multiplying every day. It's pretty easy once you have 2 of the same, though imo the garden shop stocks fertilizer too late in the game. Early game is when you really need it for your town.
blue roses and purple pansies are probably the hardest when breeding from non-hybrids!
followed by golden roses (because if you need to take away your beautiful ordinance n stuff)
also carnations, but just because you need a pair and you only get one red and one pink/year haha
after you get a pair it's really easy to breed them to the infinite and beyond! (i donated quite a few blue roses and carnations and still am mostly drowning on them, had to store a bunch)
I have a hard time breeding hybrids, because I tend to group them by color rather than by flower type. I'm currently trying to get some more, but I did recently get some help through a trade.
I'm trying to grow purple pansies and purple tulips at the moment but not having any luck. Also black cosmos, but I think I'm just unlucky with that last one.
I got 4 blue roses from somebody, and I just kept breeding them, and now I have quite a few.
My black tulips don't seem to want to breed.
My orange and black cosmos are ones that I don't really pay attention to, so they don't breed much, if at all.
My pink/orange tulips don't like to breed for me.
My orange pansies like to produce red and yellow ones, not orange. Very annoying.
My purple roses breed like crazy.
I time travel, too, but I forget to water my flowers a lot, so that contributes to me not getting many hybrids, especially the ones that don't want to breed whether I water them or not.
