Do Card Villagers count toward the cycle?

Ive also been wondering this...they do appear on mainstreet just like any other villager. But then I wouldn't think Nintendo would have allowed us to just keep using the same villager cards to go towards kicking somebody else out the void.
Be interesting if anybody has tried this out yet

Are you trying to invite someone back but you don't have that villager card?

sorta. I gotta relocate marshal and punchy but I dont have marshals card, and I have 16+ villager cards so I need to know if I can cycle summoned villagers so I can buy marshal back later.

I was actually wondering this! Diana was my first to move and I really miss her, but there's no way I've cycled 16 villagers.. I have 10 cards though, so I was unsure if I could eventually get her back. I ended up just deciding to get her in my second town. My second town isn't being used yet though, it's only a cycling town, so I might test this theory there.

please do, maybe it will work with less then 16 different cards? let me know!

I did this when I was trying to cycle Hamlet back in, and yes. Using card villagers DOES count toward the cycle.

**EDIT** Oh! And if you don't have that many cards, you can keep cycling between two cards if need be. I had Clay's card, but I wasn't happy with where his house was, so I forced him out, moved in a random card villager, forced THEM out and moved Clay back in.

Thank you! I have a specific villager (like, I can't replace him, his house is perfect) I want to get back in to a second town and I wasn't sure if the cards would work. You've just saved me so much time!

Card invited villagers completely bypass the cycle, but actual villagers still have to follow the 16-villager rule.

I assume it's Nintendo's way of trying to get more people to drop cash on the cards.

Actually I just realized -- how did you get the 16th card villager to ping when you'd finally cycled 16 times? I've seen a lot of people say card villagers won't ask to move naturally, and since the villager i'm trying to move back is not a card but the original villager I can't force the move the way you do with a card. Were you stuck with the last card villager?

good question, can you actually get card villagers to ping? bob has yet to ping me..

I read that card villagers won't ping unless there's at least eight of them. Or something. I was hoping Nintendo fixed that with the 1.5 update, but apparently not.

So how did you use them to get a non-card villager back in?

Because once I moved in nothing but card villagers, they started to ping and I was able to get Hamlet back in from the cycle.

It isn't easy, and it's obnoxious the way Nintendo changed things, but it works.

Ah, so it won't work for me or the OP. Only if you go *all* new card villagers. That's a bummer. Thanks for clarifying!!

What about Amiibo villagers like W. Link? Will kicking out an Amiibo villager count towards the cycle?

I think it should but not when you use the same villager multiple times. Also the original people probably won?t respond to you as this thread has been inactive for almost 2 years.(✿❛ ֊ ❛?)
