DIY Message in a Bottle

Confirmed by myself and a friend you can get up to 3 per day per character, mount of characters on your island makes no difference in how many you get on a single characters save. So I have 4 characters and can get up to 12 bottles per day if I check back in morning, noon, and evening. It doesn’t seem to be guaranteed though, and seems to have a higher chance of spawning if you’ve saved an quit, then reloaded in a few hours later to play again!

I don't think that's correct. I've been playing since launch, multiple times a day and always run by the beach several times over to collect shells.
I always get one bottle every single time.
I did read that having multiple characters increases your chances of getting additional bottles but haven't actually tested it out yet.

i’ve gotten two on a few occasions but i don’t really check the beach after getting the first one so it’s entirely possible i’ve missed out on more spawning aha

I only usually get one bottle. But on times when I pick one up before 6AM, somehow I tend to get another one in the evening.

i think they spawn 12 hours apart? i did a few experiments myself along with my sister

Alright. Thanks. That probably explains why I've only seen one bottle on the beach per day. I usually play at 8 am and wrap it up a few hours after working on my island.

I've read this but I've never seen an evening one. I comb the beach constantly and pick up shells routinely throughout the day and have never seen a second one spawn. I have one character on my island.

I have found 2 on same day on 2 different occasions. Both times I have picked the first bottle up right after 5 am and the second showed up late evening. Both times I had signed out for quite a while in between. This has not happened every time though as I do that routine quite often.

I got 2+ even back when I was the only islander and have a friend who fairly regularly gets 3 in a day also as the only islander. I even made a thread about it awhile back and many people claim to get up to 3 in a day with and without multiple characters
I think it’s an RNG sort of thing, and seems to happen much more often after logging out for a a few hours from what I’ve noticed.

i actually have no idea if it's confirmed, but i did test it out a couple of times without TTing + with an island w/o an alt! i'll try to dig deeper tho

thats so interesting! I dont TT and I only have one account on my switch, and like I said, so far I've only gotten 1 per day. Once I forgot about it and didn't pick it up, and the next day there were 2, but other than that theres only been 1. so idk lol

ohh i guess it's an rng thing :0 i'll try to do a few more experiments just to test

I only get one a day. I've been checking for a second every day for several weeks, since I have read that you can get 2, but have never gotten the second one.

I play every day for hours, and at all hours, and have only gotten the one.

I have gotten more on the NM islands though.

i've only ever gotten one per day on my island. i've been checking for a 2nd bottle after hearing that people can get 2, but it hasn't happened for me yet.
