Digital copy of New Leaf suddenly unable to open? Edit: Miraculously fixed.

SEEMS LIKE YOU WERE HACKING, YOU HACKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! X(

I don't hack. I'm not even comfortable altering the game through time travel, much less something like hacking it. I am pretty sure I do know why this person is targeting my thread at the moment, though, especially since their account was created literally today.

If you check the last few posts on this thread, I informed a member on hacking being a forbidden topic on the forum and suggested they keep it more of a secret if they don't want negative reactions. Of course, she got extremely defensive toward everyone.

Hours later, this account was created and those posts showed up in my thread, so I'm pretty sure it's her.

Unlikely as Crystals went berserk on everyone, handing out a total of ten negative WiFi ratings. :P

Ok I'm kinda scared cause I have it digital too and afraid of this happening...
Any idea what causes this? So I can avoid doing it in my ds.

Guessing it had something to do with popping the SD card out while it was trying to load pictures ages ago. I recently made the connection that I made that mistake right before being greeted by a corrupted file.

Just don't be dumb like I momentarily was and you should be fine, but I'm never gonna opt for a digital download again.

Oh ok. I never touch my SD card anyways XD
Good luck with finding a solution though!

I took the leap and deleted my digital download of New Leaf today.

I downloaded it again with the intention to start up another town, and lo and behold, I'm perfectly able to access my old town. It's actually a little surreal talking to all my old villagers again. I did not expect this whatsoever.

Not totally sure how it happened, but hey, I'm not complaining.

I'm so glad you got it fixed! I've got a digital copy of the game as well and I keep hearing that it "breaks" a lot easier than the physical copy. I've been worried ever since D;

Thanks, it's a huge relief.

As long as you treat it responsibly, you'll be fine. My case isn't an unexplained one, so at least I can warn people against fiddling with the SD card while the system is on. I wasn't paying attention and it really does pose a risk to your town.

I'll never go digital for something like Animal Crossing as they try to make some of these SD cards as cheaply as possible. The cartridges are likely to be more reliable due to Nintendo not wanting to get a bad reputation for cartridge reliability and the fact that they only have one purpose in life so their lifetime can't be shortened by downloads and such.
