Digital and Physical Copy - Can it be done?

So I really want to have another copy for a cycling town, and my brother has the digital copy he is willing to let me download. However, I don't want it to screw up my physical copy. Is it true that if you do this one copy will either render un-saveless or you won't be able to use the internet? This is on the same DS.
Please help ASAP! If you actually do this, please let me know if/how it works. I want the digital copy to be for cycling.

I'm not sure if I understand the question - you can have only one DL version on the DS...Are you asking if you can copy your brother's DL version?

I want two versions of the game on my 3DS. The digital version, and the physical game card version. I have read on Game FAQS that it can be done, but I'm not entirely sure.

You'll be fine, I'm sure. Never heard of internet problems with 1 digital and 1 cart.

Everything but HHA homes are saved to the cartridge, but since it only takes like 10 seconds to remove the cartridge, why not?

It's fine. I have both the digital and physical copies on the same 3DS (main & cycling) and I don't see any problems - I can connect to the internet on both just fine and they both get streetpass and spotpass.

You can only have 1 digital game on a single 3ds, but as many as you want physical copies on that same 3ds.

Yes, it can be done. Your data won't be corrupted, unless you try to make two different towns on the same game copy using your SD card. If you do that then it'll corrupt your town.
