I'm debating the pros and cons of building a campsite in my town. Pros are easy: I can campsite reset until I get my dream villager, they have NIS items as prizes in their games that I would like to collect, and I love getting a taste of what each villager is like without the commitment of having them move in.

The cons: When no camper is in town the campsite is ugly, it takes up a lot of space, and I don't think I could make it fit in a Harry Potter theme town.

Who here has decided not to build a campsite? What were your reasons for it. Do you think the effort of trading or buying villagers worth the space and visual appeal of not having one?

i didn't build a campsite after i reset my town bc of a glitch, but i had a cycling town and friends to help me get my dreamies. i like not having a campsite bc well, it's ugly when no one is there but i also found it was just really tough to get someone you wanted in there and gives me more wiggle room to do whatever i want with my town. before i reset, i found that the campsite was only filled the day someone was moving out or when i had a full town. i rarely found any dreamies there. unless your dreamies are really strange, i'm sure you can probs find them in the villager trading plaza :/ goodluck deciding!

I built a campsite because I'm a cycler! But now that I can get all of my villagers on my 2nd town, I will probably not build one in my main town. You're right, it's ugly and it takes up space, and there's not enough room for it. Also, villagers aren't there that often.
In your case, I would get it because it's really helpful, but if you don't have to I wouldn't. I'll only build one if there's a perfect space for one.

hmm i think the campsite is a good pwp. i was able to get my dreamies (julian and fang) from there~ it doesn't look that bad when no one's camping... i shoved it in a corner bc i didn't like it at first too, but then i made a camping/forest area sort of thing around it so now i think it looks fine with/without a camper ;v; just work around it if you want to get some villagers for yourself or to sell. but if you don't want one, don't build one bc you can't demolish it.

I built one because I was interested in getting to choose some of my own villagers! I also could play games with them, and I could somewhat control who got to live in the magnificent town of Treehut.

It does take up space, but I think it's very helpful. You said it was a Harry Potter theme town, right? Maybe it could be the tent that Ron, Harry, and Hermione are camping in while they're finding Horcruxes in the Deathly Hallows? It could be in a "forest" area of sorts, too.

I haven't built the Campsite because I am not sure where I want to put it and also my town is able to have 10 villagers without it

Reasons to not build a campsite:
- If it doesn't fit your theme (like if you're going for a city feel, a super-cute feel, etc.)
- If you don't have a great spot for it in mind
- If you don't want to sacrifice space to build the campsite that could be used for something else instead (like a new character house, a landscaping area, etc.)
- If you don't need it to obtain villagers, since you can buy them, trade them, and adopt them in communities like this one.
- If the look of it doesn't appeal to you.
- It's permanent, so that alone is a reason to consider not building it, if you have any doubts about it at all.

Reasons to build the campsite:
- If it could be fitting for the theme/feel you're going for (like if you have a forest/wild feel to your town)
- If making a cute camping area around it appeals to you and fits into your town plans (the bonfire PWP, log bench, pine trees, hammock, etc.)
- If you need it to obtain villagers (maybe a lot of your dreamies are popular, so they could be hard to find online unless you have millions of bells.)
- If the look of it appeals to you
- If you don't think you'll regret it later, and if you have a great spot for it in your town that you're 100% sure you'll be happy with later

I don't think that building a campsite in a HP-themed town would be that much of a stretch. Like tiffc said, the trio spent a lot of time camping in the seventh book :P And it could also go into some sort of "Forbidden Forest" area maybe.

In my personal experience, I chose not to build the campsite because it didn't fit the atmosphere I'm going for of a developed city, and I wasn't willing to sacrifice any space for a camping area that wouldn't even be very fitting for my town. I don't regret not building it, and I've been able to obtain 8/10 of my dream neighbors so far without it, just a few more to go :)

I did not build a campsite in my main town for a couple reasons.

1) Imo, it doesn't look really nice when there isn't a villager in it.
2) I already obtained all my dreamies, so I see no purpose in having it other to see other villagers or win campsite prizes/play minigames. However, I have a campsite in my cycling town and a villager bought a famous mushroom off of me for 60k. lol :3
3) I have no idea where to place it, and I fear I might regret the placement after awhile because it's permanent.
4) I'd rather have space for other cool pwp's.

I do not regret not building the campsite :3

I think it depends on how you plan to get your villagers and whether you enjoy campsite games.

I regret building my campsite. I got 99% off my dream villagers off the forums instead of through the campsite… so now it just sits there taking up a relatively large PWP spot.

I built mine on a thin stretch of land that I rarely visit. I like it there though, I can see if someone's in it as soon as I come out my door, but can't see it when no one's camping. I intend to make that area more pine forest-y later. I also like meeting new villagers, even if I don't want them.

I did build it. It took months for me to figure out where. I was put off for a long time by the fact it is permanent, but once I decided where to put it I like it.

I built it in my first two towns and regretted it both times. Now I'm holding off until I get more of my town planned out. If I can find a place for it I'll build it, if not I won't. I hardly use it anyway.

I built mine in the middle of my cedar forest, near the train station.
I think it looks good with or without the tent!
With the tent it looks like someone is camping in the woods and without is seems like an abandoned, mysterious place like you sometimes encounter in the woods.
Maybe you could do the same if you have a forest?

Thank you everyone who replied. I did it and built the campsite in the dark woods.... surrounded by spiders I might add. The trees help blend it in so it doesn't look too bad. This morning when it was built I went to visit it and guess who was inside??

Phoebe! My phoenix dreamie - What better person to launch the campsite! Thanks to all she's moving into town.;:D
