I bought some Amiibo cards to exchange the items but I don't think to get them all... it's too expensive... .-.

I recently got a New 3DS XL since my old one was becoming unplayable, and since it has NFC reader capability I thought I might as well put it to use. Bought 2 packs of Welcome Amiibo cards (waiting for the 2nd pack to come in this week). I bought them for quick meows, to order stuff from RVs and so that I don't have to spend play coins on Island Escape. I'm also helping friends get items through the RVs and I'm hoping to get Spike in the second pack I ordered.

I'm honestly stopping at 2 though, I've never been the type to collect cards, and 2 packs will be just fine for me.

Yes, I have nearly all of Series 1 and loads that I brought off Ebay for stupidly high prices because they were dreamies.

I'm not mad for spending money on ACNL though, it's special and makes me really happy. So I don't regret it.

I had no interest in amiibos before the update.

Now I'm addicted to buying those cards. Not very interested in the figurines yet.

To be honest, I never thought I would buy cards for ANY game.

...and then I got hooked on Desert Island Escape. My store was also at that time clearing their old stock of cards out out 60% off, so I guess I got into the card collecting at a good time.

It was an interesting experience to go against my own principles, but so far I'm not disappointed. And since I'm not after a particular villager to move into my town, I like the randomness of the draw!

Not really. I only bought WA cards because they're the only way to get the returning villagers and well, apart from adopting them in other towns but I prefer looking for them on my own. Now that I got them, I haven't been buying any. Collecting the cards, as in having them all complete doesn't interest me.

Yup! I bought 200 cards in bulk from someone on eBay and got it 75% off ♦

I might get the welcome amiibo cards, but I dunno. I want the items and the returning villagers, but at the same time, I won't use all of the villagers... and I already have a lot of amiibo cards

Unfortunately, yes. :( I ended up buying 4 WA RV packs(netting only 1 duplicate), and 2 Series 3 packs(no dupes), as well as Tom Nook's amiibo. I also bought Callie and Marie(not just for the dumb villagers/items, I just really love Splatoon.) And Ocarina of Time Link(from the 30th Anni. Zelda series, again, not just because of the update, but because I recently started playing OoT and I'm enjoying it a lot.).

While I don't really regret it(I like to give others items they don't have access to, plus I like collecting stuff.), I still hate how a vast majority of the items included in the update is locked behind amiibo, aka $$$. Then again, Nintendo is a business, and like all businesses, they want money. That's just the way it is. ;(

yeah, capitalism got me man.

but it's okay i don't mind bc now it's easier to get villagers you like and love ~

Ooooh boy, considering I bought a new copy of the game so I could start over and receive the dreamies and items I needed from my other game and got an amiibo card for Weber, I'm feeling very tempted to buy so many more amiibos not only for the experience but as a collection as well. Because when I get into something, I usually want to go all out with it. So... yeah, maybe.

I'm now collecting the cards...mostly just trading now. I don't care about the figures.

I got a Papi card, cuz Papi is super cute. Also, I also have Poppy in my town, so Poppy and Papi!

It did...I was already collecting amiibo figures but I had to get the ones that gave us the new special villagers once I found out about them.
Also collected the whole welcome amiibo series and now I'm working on all ac figures. It's nice to have the collection and it means I don't have to rely on finding items or villagers on here. Plus I can help people out. You can't get all the new villagers from the trading plaza so it was definitely worth buying the LOZ and splatoon ones

Let's just say I had never bought a single amiibo until this update. I've already grabbed the Sanrio cards, all my villager cards, OoT Link (though I would have picked this one up anyway because it's my favourite iteration of Link), and the Monster Hunter Ayuria amiibo coincidentally arrived today. So that's that, I'm done with these.

I'm actually really pleasantly surprised by the quality of the figures. The MH amiibo looks fantastic, and it's HUGE. Never thought I'd buy one of these but I couldn't resist Felyne, plus the amiibo itself is my favourite monster from the series. It looks great, I'm really pleased.

I bought some amiibo cards when I received my HHD new 3DS. When I heard about the update I bought more amiibo cards of villagers I would like in my new town. I pre ordered the Sanrio cards and I bought individual cards of the welcome amiibo set. I like being able to choose the cards I really want and use them in ACNL.

Nope, I haven't bought any. I have no interest in them as of now and they're too expensive for my liking anyway. I'd need to buy the NFC reader and all. I rather just obtain whatever update items I want from other people and spend my real money on things I deem more worth it.

I had already purchased a lot of them. I own all the figures except spring Isabelle (why do I need 2 Isabelles? lol) and had bought several packs of cards. Most of these I bought on Amazon on sale.

I did however just order 2 packs of the new cards, so I guess the update inspired me to buy those. :D
