Title pretty much says it all! For me it definitely did influence my thinking when it came to buying amiibos. Before the update, I didn't own any at all simply because I didn't think they would be worth it (sure they were nicely detailed and cool little figures, but since I didn't play any of the games that would make use of them I thought it wouldn't be worth my time and money) and I just didn't see a need for them. I had a few of the happy home designer cards, mostly gifts from friends, and I didn't really use them either as I don't play HHD that often at all. However, as soon as the new update came out and I saw all the fun things you can do with the amiibos, I just thought to myself that I needed to go and buy some! Currently, I'm not disappointed! They are adorable little figured and they look just like the characters, and it's an added bonus for me that I finally have a game where I can actually use them! I also went out and bought some more HHD cards, as well as the new RV cards and they are great as well. Overall, I think the added amiibo compatibility was a great idea and I'm glad it was implimented, even if it was just a scheme by Nintendo to get us to BUY MORE MERCHANDISE!
What do you think? We're you influenced by the update to go out and buy some amiibos/amiibo cards? Or are you at least more interested in them? I'd like to know! ^_^

Yeah, it influenced it for me based on reading how easy they are to use to get that particular villager to move in your town even if they are still in your 16 cycle. There were also a few new characters that I wanted like Dobie and Boots. I don't really like the concept of the packs (I bought two and naturally didn't get anything I wanted though Vivian looks okay). So, I'm mostly just buying the individual cards people are putting up to save myself the money of guesswork.

I already bought amiibo before to use them with HHD. However, after buying a couple of packs and getting the cards I wanted the most, I didn't buy any more. Now I have asked for some more this Christmas because of the update, particularly the new Welcome Amiibo packs, as I want some of the new villagers in my town.

I was tempted to maybe buy some amiibo cards, but I don't want to bother having to buy one of those amiibo readers and would rather just buy the villagers from people on the trade forum like I always have. As for furniture from RV's, I'd rather just visit other towns who have the specific RV there.

I still might someday buy some amiibo, but for now I'm in no rush.

I have an old 3DS, so amiibos are more of a cost to start with for me. But, this update has gotten me to consider getting some amiibos and the accessory to use them. Then again, this is one of the last frequently played games I own to get an amiibo update. So, yes and no at the same time. I truly think I have been considering this for over a year now with Smash allowing amiibo fighters and Fire Emblem: Fates with now Animal Crossing: New Leaf are pushing me to a final decision of buying some.

Absolutely not. They aren't even quality as figurines. Like, at first I thought it would be cool to own some SSB Amiibos, but then I took a look at them and thought "I am not spending $15 (or whatever it is, I forget) for those!".

It's even more disappointing that Nintendo has gone down the card route with Animal Crossing. I understand that they probably can't justify figurines of Animal Crossing villagers, but cards are dumb. They already tried cards with the eReader back during the GCN/GBA era. We all saw where that went. If anyone even remembers it! Even worse, when you buy packs of cards you aren't even guaranteed to get what you want.

I think it's a very good thing I'm not obsessed with AC like I was back when I was a kid, otherwise I might have been suckered in with the cards. But not anymore. They had the gall to lock my most-wanted new items (the trumpet and saxophone) behind the Amiibo cards which makes me really mad, but someday I'll find someone who will let me get them here. No need to spend money (which I don't really even have to begin with, I'm a college student).

having an old 3ds the costs stopped me the amiibo figures are cute but cost way too much for collectable figurines plus I need a reader and the card are sold in blind packs or in single pieces on ebay and other places with a price that sure I won't pay for a piece of plastc\paper of that type
plus anyway I can get all the new items trading here with other users ^_^

I had already bought Happy Home Designer the second it price dropped to $25, so that was my motivation for buying Amiibo cards at all. The update has definitely motivated me to buy more cards and figures now, too. The Amiibo figures were always something I was on the fence about, so the update gave me a reason to actually buy them instead of just considering buying them and wondering what I'd actually use them for.

For the cards, I was collecting them for Happy Home Designer but having the update use them too, made collecting them not feel as bad.

I still dont care about the figures though. I can just buy items I want from people here on Bell Tree.

I have an older 3DS and I can't justify spending lots of money on a very limited amount of extra content.

I didn't buy any new amiibos but Samson moved so I had to get his amiibo card to get my boi back. I was lucky though and got his card in only 3 packs :D

Nope, and I'm glad I didn't cave and buy any because now all of the update items are being sold on here :p Not to mention an influx of readily available scan-in villagers on the Villager Trading Plaza. No money spent and feeling happy~

tbh, I wouldn't have bothered with them if not for the update. The hhd thing is ok, but the update made them worth buying.

I bought a few cards so I could scan some dreamie villagers in and move a few uglies out of my town! I don't buy them anymore because it's easy to get the new amiibo items on here. occasionally I'll scan an amiibo card to get the meow coupons and free item

yep! i've bought quite a few and i hope to get more if i can financially afford it.

Absolutely not. I have a 2DS so I'd also have to buy a reader or whatever it is, so I'd be spending €15 per figurine plus whatever that costs.

Well, I put that The update inspired me to buy amiibos, but I already had some beforehand. I just wanted to get more after the update
